In summary - the bar looks great and Tom has lots of good ideas on how to do a basement - however he is very slow, has a lot of quality issues and unresponsiveness. Job took 5 months rather than 6 to 10 weeks as stated in the contract. It did not start well. Tom said his guys would be in to paint the walls with dryloc in May but did not turn up when he said. This would be the theme going forward. Eventually the walls were primed and the framing began. However the guy doing the framing had been on the job for 2 weeks and did a poor quality job. The walls were wobbly or miss placed and the opening for the doors were not the right size so the doors did not fit when they were installed. The dropped ceiling was installed by his team rather than dedicated professionals. The ceiling fell to the floor during the installation damaging the laminate and a bunch of tiles. To Tom's credit he addressed the floor and tiles but even after fixing the ceiling, many tiles had scratches and dents that once the job was done. There was a very long punch list of fixes needed at the end of the job. From dry wall screws sticking out, paint issues, marks and dents, miss-aligned trim etc. Most were addressed but they should not have been there in the first place if more attention was paid to quality in the fist place. However some errors could not be addressed such as walls that were not straight or woodwork that was not symmetric. Tom planned to have someone come to address the final points but when the contractor failed to turn up as planned I closed the job. Nearly a year later though I discover that he has not paid the HVAC contractor and that has left me without all the paperwork I need. Again, Tom has been unresponsive and given me excuse after excuse. If you have a lot patience and not looking for perfection then Tom will do.
