+ -1 moreWe got 5 or 6 estimates to have our front steps and rear deck replaced. Joe Slater was very friendly and gave us lots of advice on getting a good deck built, even if we didn't go with him. Estimate came in quickly. He did the work in a timely manner and built incredibly solid deck footings and 2x10 frames (way stronger than I would have imagined doing myself, and I have built decks before). The final job was beautiful. Very strong, great attention to detail and finish. We will definitely have him back for more work in the future and highly recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Remove old front steps and rear 10x10' deck. Pour sonotube footings and build larger pressure treated front deck with steps and rear 17'x19' pressure treated deck. Install Certainteed Evernew Kingston vinyl rails. Re-trim vinyl siding to decks and install 30' underground gutter drain pipe.

Description of Work: We hit the jackpot when we selected Joe Slater to oversee the addition to our home. The addition a "by room" was an involved project..for a number of reasons. The chief problem was the existing roofline. Our home has numerous peaks and he immediately recognozed the potential of drainage problems. Prior to speaking with joe, several builders suggested a number of unsatisfactory solutions. Joe saw the need to completely rebuild a section of the roofline to eliminate the problem. Joe selected and coordinated the work of the subcontractors. The project was completed in a timely manner. There was something being done everyday. We found Joe to be extremely knowledgable and easy to work with . He often went out of his way to perform those "extras" that ultimately resulted in a very large room we are delighted in. Throughout the construction Joe would offer suggestions and alternative ideas that resulted in our addition as being even more than we envisioned. Throughout the process, Joe provided constant updates as to costs, making it easy to control our finances.As a result, there were no surprises, which gave us great peace of mind.We could not be more pleased with the outcome.......We give Joe Slater our highest recommendation! + -1 moreJoe was professional and asked all of the questions to start the project. He quoted his services as a total price and as a daily rate if I paid for the materials ordered through a local lumberyard. Joe and his assistant were prompt. They worked well with the other various contractors on site. His time estimate was very close to the actual time. I'm working with an older house, which is not exactly square, and Joe and his assistant knew exactly how to compensate so the kitchen cabinets and shower stall dropped into place perfectly. They did such a good framing out the interior of the home, I hired them to install the windows and doors. When it was time to build out the master bedroom, I didn't even look elsewhere.
Description of Work: I bought a ranch style home and took it down to the studs to remodel it. Joe Slater's company framed out the interior walls, inserted the new energy efficient windows and doors and built the whirlpool tub platform. Then, they expanded the master bedroom, pushing out one of the walls, pouring a concrete pad, setting the support columns, framing the new walls, tying into the existing structure's roof and walls and enclosing the new structure.
