I paid $18000 and that doesn?t include the appliances. The gentleman putting in the cabinets was excellent but the countertops are not good and I couldn?t get them to come back on that. He reported it back to the company that he bought the countertop through and they never contacted me. His son mike owns the business and he gets very defensive. I had issues contacting him and if not for the expense to replace it I wouldn?t have had him come back to fix it. There was grout on tiles and they tried to tell me that it was wear and tear after a year. I finally got them to shave the grout out and put new grout in. They just did that in January. I didn?t contact him since September of last year. It cracked in one area and I had another company come and fix it because I didn?t want to contact Dick Pratte again. The other company did the work but they informed me that they were issues with the floor and the whole floor needed to be redone. I couldn?t spend $8000 with another company to fix it and there was no warranty. The other company told me the whole tile had to come out but Dick Pratte wouldn?t do that and all he agreed to do was pull out the grout and re-grout it. I know very well that it is not going to last and I know it wasn?t done right to begin with. It bought me sometime and that?s all I want at this time. He got away with it. When you are frustrated you don?t go after it and I tried to get something in writing from him that he would redo the tiling if it went wrong but he wouldn?t do it. the quality and installation of the cabinets was great but I don?t think he should be doing the floor work. UPDATE:. I noticed it coming apart in April of 2011 and it took them until January of 2012 to come and remove the grout on the tile floor and replace it. Today is July 2nd and I have noticed that the new grout that was installed less than 7 months ago is now cracking and coming out. When Mike came to check the floor last year I told him the issue was not the grout but he said that redoing it was the best that he could do. So now I have to pay someone else to come in and rip out the less than 2 1/2 year old floor and replace it. Obviously it was not done right the first time. He tries to tell me that it was wear and tear. Not likely! The worst part is the floor was installed under the new cabinets and I have been told that to fix it right the cabinets and marble counters have to come out. This is going to cost upwards of $8000.00. I am very unhappy and will never use Dick Pratte Cabinetry again.
Description of Work: I used the services of Dick Pratte Cabinetry to completely remodel the kitchen in May of 2010. I noticed it coming apart in April of 2011 and it took them until January of 2012 to come and remove the grout on the tile floor and replace it. Every time I walk on this floor and hear it crack I cringe at what this repair is going to cost me. If I had known what I know now I would have run not walked from this contractor. Every one I talk to says that Dick Pratte would never have allowed this to go on. Too bad he sold the company to his son, Mike. Obviously Mike does not have the same ethics his father has.
