in the end, not so well. the oversight of work quality wasnt very good. still don't trust the staircase. still cracked woodwork and poor caulk in evidece.
crossroads advertised as a women owned business, but only the owner and office worker are women. where are the women carpenters? not a good tactic and i should have taken that cue and not used them..
.the estimate came quickly  but the people who showed up to do the work were different. poorly experienced. one guy walked through my downstairs rooms carrying carpet tack and splinters of wood in his hands.all the way out the front door , down my front brick walkway.  no use of construction bags. i was horrified. 3 pets and that mess from back to front. they never did get bags used some i had even after complaints to their boss.
although stuff that had to be moved was done neatly, i found a full box on top of my printer!
they were good with my pets, to their credit. that is important to me.
while my staircase was replaced, it was obvious the workers were poorly experienced. there was a gap at the top of the stairs with a cap that fell off, my woodwork was badly damaged along the side of the treads and living room baseboards too because of their smashing on the stairway.
the workers were pleasant, but spilled coffee was everywhere, and every single houseplant including two  mature potted trees died. have not been able to afford to replace them. i have before and after photos of the work.it still breaks my heart. even the heartiest potted plants died.
my garage ceiling was to be painted, everything was supposed to be draped off and protected with plastic sheeting which was already in the garage. they never did it. there are still splatters of paint and worse-sticky residue from cutting laminate floor wood
is still stuck to stuff. the photos show a dark edge all the way around the ceiling where the edging was not done.
most of  my flooring was from ikea, already bought, along with ikea's   install kit. there were very specific directions not followed.  the flooring was smashed as opposed to tapped into place. it will not last as long as ikea' warranty because of installation non-compliance. the kit disappeared, thrown out, i think.
there is daylight between the kickplates and the stairs. the top edging is still unsafe.
my apologies. i am disabled  with lyme disease.my really good days aren't very predictable or consistent,   the reason
the review wasn't done right away,as it should have. my energy is very limited.
pretty heartsick. my concerns were blown off, and i didn''t have the energy. i do have the photos, however.
the feeling i got was that it wasn't a big enough job to warrant much concern.
saw one worker at the market not too long after. he was no longer working for crossroads.
would never ever use them again or recommend them to anyone else.
are they in business? there are never ads in the angies  magazines.
i would really love to get my trees back..

CrossRoads Contracting provided several renditions over a few months until we came up with a design we felt would work for us. We knew this would be a challenging project as we were also living in the house. The entire construction team (carpenters, painter, plumber, electrician, etc.) was very professional and respectful. They showed up everyday at 7AM. They were very careful about controlling the dust, and cleaning up the space after they were done each day. Nick, our project manager, was fantastic! He answered our many questions and worked with us every step of the way. In the end, we were so pleased with the results. As with any project of this nature, the devil is in the details. We felt the sales team was a little over worked and missed a few important details, particularly with the windows. We requested the largest windows possible for the space, which unfortunately was not interpreted as we understood it. In one case, the window shown in the rendition did not match the actual window that was installed, providing a completely different look. It all worked out, however if we did it all over again, we would ensure all details were triple checked by all parties involved. That said, we would not hesitate to recommend them to friends/family, or to work with them again.

We used Crossroads Contracting a year+ ago for a major house renovation (added 1/2 a 3rd floor) and to replace our basement door. One of the ballast lights in one of the new closets flickered and started to smoke, so I shut it down. In reading the warranty for the part (5 years), I called CrossRoads to see how I could get this fixed or replaced, expecting them to refer me to the manufacturer. Instead, they sent an electrician to my house, with a replacement part, and replaced the ballast at no charge.

I also noticed our new basement door was progressively difficult to close over the year since it was installed, and recently I had to throw my shoulder into the door to close it, It was hitting the door frame on the top and bottom. Seems the house settled/shifted over the year. I called CrossRoads, and they sent the installer to re-position the door within the frame so that it closed easily (removed some shims behind the hinges). This too was done at no charge.

What I liked about both experiences is that they back up the work that they do, even over time. They are a small women owned business that adds a personal touch to their jobs. Because of this, I have referred them to friends, who have used them successfully.

Overall, the project went well. No project of this size is without issues, but in the grand scheme of things, the CrossRoads folks did what they said they would do, when they said it would be done, and for the price they quoted...they had experienced carpenters who worked with us to address daily questions/challenges. You really can't ask for more than that. Before we even signed a contract, we went through a month of design review/changes. They did a lot of work for us before we handed them one cent. They were at our house every morning promptly at 7am, they were super good about dust control (since we were living in the house during construction), as well as keeping the outdoor elements at bay. They took 1/2 our roof off in January in New England, and our heating bill was not different than what it normally is (which speaks to how well they tried to keep the work area separate from our living area). They worked with us to address 'add-ons,' asked us about things before they just 'did them,' they were not afraid to ask our opinion on how we wanted things to go, and kept us in the loop during the entire job. We were clear that the space had to be comfortable, usable, and that we wanted the addition to look like it was always there...and not to change the front of the house...that the new addition should integrate overall with the look/feel of the house (colonial with a gambrel roof). They did just that, leaving the original roof line as a 'squirrel run.." Neighbors have commented and continue to comment on how efficiently they worked, how good their work was, and how neat/clean they were...and how nice the house looks! I will use this 'women owned' company again (their quote talks about the standards of 'work woman-ship....:o)
