I had 2 bathrooms (12 x 8 and 10 x 7) adjacent to each other that I gutted and was rebuilding. I ordered the drywall from a supplier and was going to do all the work myself but decided to see if I could have someone come in and hang the ceiling drywall. I would then hang the wall drywall myself (i.e. save myself a few dollars) and then have the contractor come in and do the taping and mudding. Jerry showed up and seemed to be in a rush (somewhat impatient and a bit arrogant). I explained what I was looking for and after about 15 mins we got into a friendly conversation. He gave me a good estimate but indicated he could not start until the week after next (no exact date yet) and that he would provide the estimate in writing. The weekend before the week he said he could come I called him to get a specific day. His wife answered the phone and said she would pass the message to him. A day or two later, still no call from Jerry. So I called back and his wife said she told him that I was expecting his call back so Jerry definitely got my message. She then gave me his cell phone number. I left him a message asking him to call me so we could schedule a specific day and that I needed to get going on my project. Around this time I did receive the estimate via email. It was $25 higher then we had agrred to verbally. OK, not that big of a deal since the estimate was still good. Three days went by and still no call from Jerry. Then that Friday he called and asked if it was ok if he could come the following week. I said yes, any day that next week would be fine; just call me and tell me the day. He said he'd call in a day or two and let me know what day. That's the last I ever heard from Jerry. He wasted 3 weeks of my time and screwed up my schedule. So if you like to get a fair estimate but not have the contractor actually follow through and leave you hanging, Jerry is your man.
