"The company was very responsive go my needs. They showed up and removed my old & leaking PVC gutters & carpenter bee eaten fascia and placed a new fascia board before my house was painted. Came back after the painting was completed & created and installed a new seamless metal gutter. Everyone I've worked with from Legacy Gutter has been very friendly, helpful & professional. I would definitely recommend them."

Hi my name is Tyler. I have alotted a lot of skills over the years and want to put them to use. I am hard working and dedicated to each job I take. I am good for a lot of small jobs - cleaning, building/fixing things, lawn care, etc. Can take on larger jobs with more people if needed. I take my time and make sure you are happy with what you receive.

"Mark was quick to respond, and always had the lines of communication open. We were able to work the schedule in the complicated time of COVID. He and his assistant did a great job cleaning the gutters, and even suggested a better/alternate gutter product that in the long run could even reduce the number of times I might need to have the gutters cleaned. "Initial contact was immediate, scheduled time to estimate cost/job, then scheduled work date. Rain delayed work and only issue was no contact after first work date was missed due to weather. Then, re-contact was made and the work was promised to be completed on Memorial Day and it was. The removal of old gutters and installation was quick and efficient. Great personalities of installation guys and clean up was complete afterwards. Update: Since the start of the job until September, 2019, I have called the company several timesregarding leaks in the gutter and to have the cover guards installed as promised. Arron always stated that they well be installing the corner guards repeatedly but he never arrived. The leak that was to be fixed within a week, was never done, have not had any returned contact from Arron. I suggest that the full payment never be made until all the work is completed. Once the bill was paid in full via cash on the date of work, Arron lost interest in the completion of my job and went on to other ventures. Very disappointed that I trusted him at his word."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you want to avoid burying your downspouts, several alternatives can help direct water away from your home's foundation. One option is to connect a rain barrel to your downspout. During a storm, the barrel collects water that you can later use for irrigating your lawn or garden. Another common solution is to install an above-ground downspout extension. This can be done in a couple of ways:

  • Splash Guards: Placing a splash guard, available at most hardware stores, under your downspout can act as a simple funnel to direct water away from the house.

  • Downspout Extensions: You can add an extension to the end of the downspout's elbow to carry water further into your yard. Some extensions are flexible, allowing you to maneuver them around landscaping.

These above-ground solutions are particularly useful if your home has a slab foundation that you cannot dig up. However, they have limitations. An extension may not move water as far from your home as an underground system. More importantly, if your yard slopes back toward your house, these methods will be ineffective, and burying your downspouts remains the best option to prevent potential flooding and water damage.

If you do end up with frozen gutters, it's important to thaw them correctly. Thawing your gutters slowly is far safer than trying to break apart the ice. Once you get through the ice, bring in a gutter professional to check out the effectiveness of your heated system.

Any small amount of standing water can be damaging to your gutters. It’s recommended that a ¼ inch puddle or more should be addressed. Failure to keep water from pooling in your gutters can result in clogs, algae growth, and pests that damage your gutters over time.

If you don't want to install gutter guards, the most common and inexpensive alternative is regular gutter cleaning, either annually, biannually, or as soon as they start to fill up. Using a leaf blower attachment can make this process easier. Other products designed to reduce cleanings include gutter screens (made of wire mesh, nylon, or foam), which are typically less expensive than a full gutter guard installation. You can also find guards and inserts designed specifically to protect your downspouts or opt for a whole gutter system like LeafGuard, which integrates the gutter and guard into a single product.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.
