Our puppy is almost 6 month old and has been in obedience training at various places, to socialize as well as train. Because we live in an area without many animals or people around we wanted to get him involved with a dogie day care program, so we choose The Barking Dog in Exeter, because we liked that you had to fill out  an extensive questionnaire about your dog and on a walk through the facilities they seemed to offer a wide range of environments, including a pool.
We scheduled our first visit with them which is free so they can evaluate how he interacts with the dogs, attendants and environment, which we also liked, giving both them and us an opportunity to say no if he was not a good fit.
We feel that his first visit went well and they give a detailed description on how he did both well and areas that he had difficulty with, along with a picture in his play.
The only concern I have is that he was extremely thirsty when he got home and not quite as tired out as I had expected, but he is a puppy and he does have endless energy, and I know that on a first visit anywhere it is all so new to him that he tends not to drink. So we did 10 days of daycare which gives you one free at $250, 11 days in total. We also might take advantage of some of their other options like private pool time, and boarding once we have been a few more times.
I was disturbed to read on Google's reviews about one persons experience with mistreatment of the animals, and would love if any one out there could shed some light on that. The other bad reviews such as contracting kennel cough don't bother me. I They do require  complete vaccinations and from what I saw they work very hard at keeping the place clean, which has got to be a monumental task!

our dog had been to the Barking Dog several times with no issues. they are super nice; their introductory day is terrific, but one day last winter something bothered our dog and while kenneled he managed to rub an inch long scratch into his nose. The woman at the counter said she thought he was anxious - and the staff cleaned the wound before we picked him up but we found it odd that he had been kenneled long enough to have hurt himself so visibly and it bothered us enough that he has not been back. I'd like to know how much time the dogs spend playing with other dogs in the yard and pool and how much time they spend it kennels.

Dogs Bark Ltd. is an awesome place. I don't put the dog in often because we always have somebody here. Even though I have used it only for grooming my cat I would like to say that they have got indoor pools and playground and all the stuff for the dogs. It is unbelievable. I will be using them again.

I have found the facility to very modern, clean and fun for the animals that are there. The process of making reservations for a 3 day boarding for my yellow lab was great. I was a bit apprehensive to board my dog at this facility since our last experience for the dog training ended with Kennel cough even though my dog was vaccinated. The person on the phone was pleasant and professional and able to answer all of my questions. When checking my dog in, I provided all the necessary paperwork (updated immunization records) and I made arrangements for my dog to be evaluated for doggie daycare. You can imagine my surprise when 4 days later when she came down with Kennel Cough AGAIN and I had another $200 vet bill. I promptly contacted the facility after being to my vet and the response I received was less than concerning. I was told that this was a highly contagious disease and I was the first one to report a problem, the same response I received the previous time. I indicated that I was aware of the nature of the disease and inquired what they did once the disease was in the facility. They told me that they cleaned a bit more, etc. I have received no further communication with this facility since picking up my dog. I am so disappointed in the response and the facility in general. I was hoping have my dog periodically attend the the daycare program, however I can not risk another $200 vet bill.
