ENFIELD PLUMBING & HEATING

The Contractor showed up immediately when called regarding the plumbing work. The work was stretched out over four visits to my home over several weeks at random and unarranged times (as a filler project at the end of the day). Two employees showed up each time including a licensed plumber and an 18 year old who had just started with the company. The new employee observed the work and did not actually perform any work. The work took considerably longer (several weeks from start to finish) than it should have taken given that the licensed contractor was training a new employee and that the work was chopped up into four visits to my home. The licensed employee claimed he had installed a Rinnai heater but I seriously doubt this. He indicated that the copper feed line would not support my existing heater, stove, and the new heater and he insisted that he tie directly into the regulator. He also argued with me regarding the proposed location of the heater and insisted that I seal a window because the heater would be too close. He also reported this to the Town Building Inspector. I found information in the Rinnai installation guide which supported my claim that my existing heater had been properly installed and the new heater could be closer to the window. My propane supplier indicated that they were not familiar with Enfield Plumbing & Heating and questioned as to whether they were properly licensed for gas installations and indicated that Enfield Plumbing & Heating did not need to tie into the regulator (adding to my expense). I was billed $50 per hour for the trainee who observed the licensed plumber and did not complete any of the work. I was presented with a bill before the work was completed and the contractor/owner demanded the payment immediately. I was shocked at the $1950 invoice which included labor fees for the observer. I asked why I was being billed for someone who did not do any work and he said that he had to educate the new employee and pay his insurance. The owner showed up at my home two additional times at 7 am loudly knocking on my door each time demanding payment. I asked him during the second visit not to bother me at home yet he bothered me again. The Owner refused to negotiate on the fees he charged for the trainee. I paid the contractor $1300 a month after the work was completed which was the invoice amount less the fees for the trainee. The owner filed a suit in small claims court for the remainder.
