Brett was very responsive and came right out to see the project and got the quote back to me within 24 hours of our visit! The two man crew arrived on time and got right to work. They were courteous and the job went fast, and despite a small mix up with the quantity of materials, where they needed to come back another day to finish, everything went smoothly and the end result is superb!

We interviewed and got quotes from five suppliers before selecting Energy Improvements, based on conversations with Brett Young, one of the owners of this family business. Only one competitor (a large company) had a significantly lower price, and I came to understand after studying the facts and going online that we'd be getting significantly less because of games people play with and quot;R-values.and quot;
I am a technical person (MIT '61) who sometimes annoys people with lots of questions. Brett answered everything thoroughly, including emails. The folks who came out and did the work were very professional and personable. Did several little add-ons that weren't in the contract. These people are experts. And they don't try to stick you for add-ons that are charged for. For example, fire-safing foam in electrician's holes was only $85 for a 3000 ftand sup2; addition. A difficult under-entry-floor foam insulation added $200.
After the work was done, I mentioned in an email that the thickness of the expensive closed-cell foam didn't seem enough in one area. Without comment, they were back the next day correcting it, even though that meant bringing major equipment from some distance. WOW.
My one negative is that I don't like their name. It should be and quot;Young Insulationand quot;, or something indicating it is a family business that takes pride in their work. and quot;Energy Improvementsand quot; sounds like everyone else and keeps getting lost in the noise of my brain.
Incidentally, at first we were concerned that their given address was a P.O. Box or a street with no street address, but Google quickly located their building with several of their trucks around it.

Bottom line, if you're shopping for Insulation, call these folks last and get all the facts.

The owner of the company came out to the house for an estimate and presentation as scheduled, and that visit was within a few days of the initial call to the business. He was casual yet cordial and did not offer a high-pressure sales pitch. One I decided to have him do the work (I had received estimates for Sears, Newpro, and Granite State Glass as well), he had a two-man window crew come out to take measurements and answer any follow-up questions. As for the installation, it proceeded within a few weeks and the crew did a great job of minimally disrupting my house and property. They cleaned up after themselves and showed respect for my home by moving materials in and out with care not to damage walls, floors, etc. In addition, the amount of time they took to complete the installation process was reasonable. I also was thought the crew members were personable and they answered my questions well. My only complaints concern some of the small details. First, I needed them to cut small one-inch by one-inch strips of wood to place along the sides of the windows because of the way the stops were designed on my old windows. When they ripped down the wood (which was of good quality), the saw blade must have been old and it left a rough edge that needed to be sanded. I did sand the strips before they were installed, but they could have used more attention in that regard and they look not as smooth as I would like now that they are painted with semi-gloss white paint. Second, they did a great job with the first several windows in terms of the caulking. However, the last few windows were tooled using dirty fingers and the caulk was not as clean as I would have liked. The darker areas of the caulk doesn't show now that I have painted the trim around the replacement windows, but that painting job could have been easier if I didn't have to be concerned with covering up spots. Third, two of the windows were slightly damaged during the installation. I'm still trying to have that issue addressed, but I'm confident that the company will take care of it once the spring weather takes hold. Finally, I am very pleased with the Harvey products that were installed. They look great, function well, and seem to have made my home more energy efficient and comfortable this past winter.
