Auto Inspections
There was an inspection sticker placed on the car's windshield, along with a "report" indicating that it had passed both vehicle safety and emissions inspections. Picked up the car the next day: while driving home, both a brake light and the check engine light came on. The purchase of the vehicle was contingent upon passing a legitimate state inspection. Found out that all 4 brakes were at about 1/32nd of an inch; a caliper was frozen, multiple check engine light diagnostic codes, leaking rear brake lines; along with other issues, that raised to 20 the total count of items that should have caused the state inspection to fail. It was a used car, purchased "as is". Problem is, that doesn't apply to fraud. Whenever the vehicle sale was contingent upon passing a legitimate state vehicle inspection; that the car shouldn't have, made the sale itself based upon an outright fraud - a clear exception to the "as is" statement. According to our state laws, the dealership is responsible for items subsequently determined that were supposed to fail. Normally, the dealership is "entrusted" with making such corrections. Problem: for a used car dealer and service area, who would trust them to make legitimate repairs to their vehicle? I certainly saw ZERO reason to trust them. 2-3 things might have been a "reasonable" oversight. 20 distinct point is a strong hint of probable SCIENTOR.
