Todd Twine - Saint Anthony Construction

Overall this was a terrible experience. Todd gave us an estimate to complete of 12-14 weeks and approximately $35,000. We terminated this contractor after more than 5 months, paying almost double the amount quoted, and we still do not have a finished basement. Much of what is done still requires additional work and the quality is just marginal. We did increase the scope of the project at the beginning so we expected it to go longer than originally estimated but all of the requirements were known by the 8th week. Todd told us on three separate occasions in Nov, Dec and Jan he would be complete by a specific date and overran those dates all three times. He told us at the end that we did not communicate the urgency to him stating that, 'we didn't have an older parent moving in or anything.' Todd was unreliable at times typically showing up to work between 10 and 11. He would start projects, get a check, not finish that project and move on to the next. The problems started with the sheetrocking work that took almost 4 weeks to complete. Todd was not present for most of the days, stopping in only to point out areas that needed to be redone which were continuous. Todd then spent days and days making repairs to the sheetrock after his sheetrock people left, which is still uneven throughout the basement. Rework was the norm in most areas...sheetrock, painting, staining, installing cabinets, all doors too short, painting not complete or not enough coverage, wood beams not flush, etc. During the last month, he was leaving by 11 or 12 on Fridays to go snowmobiling (days he would actually start by 8) and sometimes not showing up on Monday until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. We told him he had three weeks to complete the job mid-Jan. The quality of work deteriorated further and we let him go 2 days early when he showed up at 3:30 on the last Monday. Overall on our project he was unreliable and unprofessional and we would never recommend him.
