David Monahan Plumbing And Heating

The furnace malfunctioned in our rental house over Christmas. When the tenants arrived for vacation, the pipes were frozen. The tenants replaced most of the burst pipes, but we needed a licensed plumber to install a new furnace and finish repairing the plumbing system. Monahan was recommended by the oil company, and we needed the job done quickly, since it was winter and our tenants were without heat and plumbing. So we authorized Monahan to do whatever repairs were necessary. They installed a new furnace and replaced the remaining old pipes. The parts and labor charges seemed unreasonable, but we didn't feel like we had any alternatives because we were out of town and we needed the job done. This winter (one year after the original repair), the pipes froze again. We called Monahan, and he never returned our calls. We finally hired a different plumber to do the repairs, and he found that Monahan had installed the intake valve on the furnace backwards, which caused the second freeze up. Between the original high price and the expensive second repairs, we probably paid about 4 times what the job should have cost
