I was initially impressed with Canoyer as they tried hard to meet my deadline due to upcoming event. Brad and his crew showed up and went to work but due to an approaching storm they hurriedly tried to wrap things up...after that it was all downhill for me. The work became sloppy, 2 plants were stepped on, they only applied a very thin layer of mulch with bald spots, they didn't have time to plant one tree and the placement of the plants was not very well thought out. It was as if there had been no communication between the landscape designer and the onsite foreman....Brad Canoyer. It took 3 more weeks before the tree was planted with no prior communication and it was planted in the wrong spot and very tiny. When I called to discuss the placement (we had been out of town when they arrived) Brad was extremely defensive. He was right and I was wrong.....about everything. When I realized that I could not deal with him I began to call up the chain and realized very quickly that dealing with a family business was not to my advantage. When I ultimately dealt with the owner (Brad's father) he told me he supported his son in this. There was no attempt to make me feel like they cared about my concerns. There was another brother who made a visit and replaced a couple of plants but it was as if everyone was powerless, nor did they care, to make me feel as if I received the service I had paid for. I had them remove the tree and asked for a refund for the tree which I received. At no time did the owner try to appease me or show any concern for my frustration with the service I had been provided. It was as if they knew I would not be returning though we had intended to do some hardscape work in the back with them. I had always enjoyed visiting their garden center, the people who work there have always been friendly and accommodating...unfortunately I no longer go there as I refuse to support their business. I have steered many people away from them for landscaping work and it's a shame that the company doesn't realize the power of referrals. The biggest surprise for me was the fact that the owner did not care about my concerns...I will be very hesitant to deal with a family business in the future.

They are very reasonably priced. They have good attitudes when you are in there. I find them helpful and friendly.

We didn’t like anything about them.  We weren’t happy with them.  We met with them and had a rendering drawn.  They substituted plants.  We agreed on matured plants but we got really tiny plants.  We gave time for the plants to grow for a year but they were the wrong plants.  So they came out and dug up some of the plants because they were wrong kind but they insisted that they were the right ones.  They were very slow to respond to our concerns.  They were unapologetic and they didn’t show up on time.  They came the day they were scheduled to do the install and left a bunch of equipment and other materials out in the yard on our lawn.  We had to call someone and ask them to remove those.  We also had to call to find out when they would be coming to actually do the job because our hour had come and gone.  They didn’t show up or call.  They were expensive.  I won’t recommend them and we have told the people whom we know not to use them.

Designer (Tyler King) came to the house to view area we wanted to be done.  On 4 June, we met with Tyler to review proposal and discuss details, chose retaining wall/paver color.  The project manager (Brad Canoyer) came to see which area will be done.  Brad then met with four to five employees to discuss work to be accomplished.  Employees removed old area which included wooden steps, cement blocks, bricks, dirt, etc.  They were very friendly, professional and fast.  They answered our questions.  After work was finished, cleaning was done.  Our backyard looks much better.  Plants included daylillies, slavias and a dwarf norway globe.  I have spoken with Tyler regarding the norway globe that is turning brown, most likely due to the heat wave.  I was pleased with his answer regarding watering and sending someone to check it out (if necessary), even replace the bush if it doesn't get better.  Overall experience with Canoyer personnel and work accomplished was excellent.  I am very pleased to see that Canoyer do honor their products.  I would hire them again.
