I did not hire this contractor, so I do not know the details of pricing, etc.
Home Town Painters was hired to put a door in between 2 offices in my building. Day one, they arrived and knocked out the drywall where a door used to be. They cracked the drywall from the left top corner of the opening all the way up to the ceiling. Shoddy work, but the job wasn't done yet...so I let it be.
Today, they came back to hang the door. After much banging and loogey hocking, the guys stained and varnished the door INSIDE an office building during business hours! This building has windows that do not open, therefore, no ventilation is available. I am 15 feet from the new door and the fumes were horrible. In addition to a headache, it caused me respiratory issues.
I called the owner of the building and she called the contractor and asked them to stop working. He told her that he had forgotten to stain/varnish the door and trim before he started.
When I spoke with him, he said the weather wasn't good enough to do it outside, so he did it inside. And he said he was far enough along, he just finished it up after the bldg owner called. Sorry for my inconvenience, but it was done now and they couldn't take it back.
They left...and the giant crack above the door remains...along with the overpowering smell of varnish. I would never use this company.
