+ -1 moreOur house was due for some general "updating" and Troy was the guy recommended to us by the people doing our hardwood floors (Husker Hardwood Floors- who I would also recommend). He was very personable and easy to work with and made sure the job was done right. We would not hesitate to hire him again in the future.

+ -1 moreTroy was prompt for the initial meeting and we seemed to hit it off. He had a lot of great ideas to expand upon what I originally wanted. He even showed me pictures of another project he's working on and he clearly enjoys his work. I was promised a quote for my ~$6,000 to $9,000 job. It involves railing remodeling in various locations in the house with additional work with a bathroom remodel and trim work in the basement. That was the last I heard from him. This seemed like a "cherry" of a project to me. I was very flexible on my timeline and he knew I was going through with the project (part of the work was repairing some minor flood damage to the trim in the basement which was covered by insurance). I'm honestly not sure what the issue was. I called after a week and a half to ask how the quote process was going and left a message. Again, no response. The contractor hiring process takes time for customers too! I want a simple call-back - even if it is to tell me he is not going to be able to quote my project (fill in the reason). Is customer service in the contractor world really that hard? This would never work outside of the self-employed realm. I would have written an honest review that would not give low marks simply for not taking the job. Based on how I was left in the dark and I wasted quite a bit of time wondering if he’d be getting in touch with me, I can only give him a “D” for my overall experience.

Description of Work: After a fire, Vortex Construction redid the whole inside of my house. He did drywall, windows, doors, floors, and everything.
