At first I was very happy with Valley Boys.  Their sales person was respectful, energetic, and had a seemingly genuine concern to ensure that everything was addressed. One day we received a letter in the mail saying that our account had been transferred to a new manager.  After that everything went south.  We were unable to reach the new account manager on the phone and he did not respond to any voicemails or emails.  Our job sat stagnant for over two months.  Eventually (after threatening to take legal action) work slowly resumed but Valley Boys quit respecting our wishes to be notified when workers would be on our property.
They were contracted to install a new corrugated roof on a shed.  They sent an employee out to do a site survey and about a week later came out to install the roof.  I received a phone call that they would be unable to install the roof because of some obstacles that they didn't know about.  When I asked why this issue wasn?t brought up during the site survey they told me because the employee they send out for site surveys isn't knowledgeable on the installation process.
To top everything off, they did not order install the correct gutters on the house then refused to correct the mistake saying that they had received verbal permission to the change.  They said they had a recording of this phone conversation (which was not with the insurance holder) but refused to provide the recording.  Additionally, they said that since the gutters had already been installed, if we wanted the color we had ordered it would be at our own expense.
After the gutters were painted we heard nothing for about 6 weeks.  Then they sent an email saying that our account was past due and we had 15 days to pay nearly $1000 or they would start to charge 1.5% interest every month until payment was received.  This was the final payment for the depreciated value from our insurance company.  About a week later they told me our insurance company had sent them a check that we had to sign and that someone in their billing department would handle that part with us.  I tried for two weeks to contact this person, who did not respond to and voicemails or emails.
Four weeks later we received another invoice for approximately $700, this invoice made the same threat to charge interest if not paid within 15 days.  The totals on the invoice had changed, suddenly (even though they had done no new work) we now owed an additional $200 for the roof, $500 for the gutters but they refused to provide any details as to why the prices had gone up.
All in all we had a terrible experience with Valley Boys and would highly recommend hiring anyone else!

Horrible.  We signed a contract with Valley Boys that stated explicitly that the cost to re-roof the house would be X amount.  Valley Boys stated in writing that any additional cost above the contracted amount would be negotiated between them and Allstate Ins. and that our only obligation was the amount reimbursed to us for the roof replacement.  Allstate, using industry standards for shake shingle roof replacement, determined a fair replacement cost and this amount was paid to Valley Boys Roofing.  After the work was completed Valley Boys wanted an additional several thousands dollars which the insurance company refused to pay.  We contacted Valley Boys more than once during this process and were assured that our only obligation was the amount agreed to in the contract.  We have that amount in writing.  Allstate paid the amount owed to Valley Boys through us and which was the contracted amount we were quoted. Once Allstate refused to pay any additional money Valley Boys filed a lawsuit against us claiming we owed them the additional money which is in direct conflict with what we have in writing in our initial contract with Valley Boys.   This has resulted in us having to hire an attorney to defend ourselves.  Their lawsuit, in my opinion, is frivolous in nature and even if the court agrees it is costing us as much for an attorney to represent us as it would be to just hand over thousands of dollars to Valley Boy.  It is my opinion, based on our experience with Valley Boys Roofing, for anyone needing roof repairs to use extreme caution when dealing with them.  Get more than one bid.  Allstate has been excellent in this case and we have no issue with how they have handled the claim.

At first I was impressed by the sales representative from Valley Boys.  While he tried to talk me into buying more expensive shingles, I expected that.   When I opted for the lesser expensive, there was no attempt to talk me out of the purchase, and I was, in fact, provided with four ten year guarantees.   In September of 2011 we had a mild hail storm, so I called to have them take a look at the roof.  I was infomed that there was no hail dammage, but the shingles were showing premature wear.  I was told to call back in one year, and I did.  The sales rep told me that I needed new shingles as the other ones were wearing out.  I filled out the forms and he took off a couple of shingles to send to the manufacterer.  The company, Tamko agreed to provide new shingles and to pay for the labor for the shingle replacement, but I was then informed that to replace the other components, the valleys and the padding etc that goes under the shingles, I would have to pay an additional $3,500.00 to Valley Boys.  I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and it is still unresolved.  Valley Boys then sent another repreentative out to my house to talk to me.  He was very pleased to see that I actually posessed the guarantees which had been provided in 2009, and he told me that this should end the confusion.  It didn't.  From there, things have just gotten worse, and after I faxed the guarantees to him, I spoke to him on the phone and he said that his boss said that I should not have been given these guarantees.  I apparently purchased their "bare bones" agreement, even though that is not what I was told at the time.  They offered to take $500 off, but I cannot afford to put another three grand into another (potentially) bad roof.
The bottom line is that I am old enough to know when I am being ripped off, and I am.  Or, rather, have been.  I can not recommend this company to anyone.

Valley Boys responding promptly after my initial call for service.  Carlos performed and extremely thorough inspection of my entire roof and ventilation system.  He then explained his finding which included deficiencies he noted from our original construction.  He made no attempt to sell me more then I needed.  When he departed we knew exactly what the repairs would cost and when the repairs would take place.  We were extremely satisfied with the service provided by Valley Boys Roofing.

Wonderfully!  I love this company.  Every employee I encountered, from the receptionist to the gentlemen cleaning up my yard afterward, was professional and pleasant.  I was given a clear understanding of exactly what would be done, when, by whom and payment terms.
A downspout was accidentally bent in the process.  They brought out a new downspout and replaced it the next day!  My house looks amazing.

I'll gave them fair because I'll let the reader decide.  I'll tell my story and encourage you to find out Valley's Boys' side as well.  I'm not saying they are bad, but my transaction with them is confusing (read on).  Customer service was great from the beginning.  We noticed a small water damaged area in bathroom ceiling right next to skylight.  We knew the roof was replaced by another company in 2011 from previous owner.  We call Valley boy to inspect.  They came within a day and threw a tarp over it until an inspector can come out.  Carlos, their inspector and sales rep came out and determined it was from the skylight which was never replaced by previous owner (19+years old).  He also recommended replacing ridge vents with turbines to help air flow in attic, to vent bathroom ventilation to atmosphere instead of attic, pointed out the roofer from 2011 did a shabby job with the ridge vents and needed some repairs (hence also the reason for the turbine vents) and putting down more insulation from R-30 to R40.  We decided to do everything except for the insulation.  Although, they were quite expensive, Carlos insisted that its because of the quality work and warranty.  The installers were professional and courteous.  However, when ripping out the old skylight, they damaged the surrounding interior part of the drywall and wood, which Carlos referred as the "trimming".  After the installation, the installers took pictures of it and also mentioned this rarely happens, apologized and will have Carlos contact us.  A week later, Carlos came out and said the damages were not cover under our contract.  He circled the part of the contract which basically said they don't cover damages from "replacement of customer supply skylight interior trim work."  I interpreted this as if I went out to Home Depot and purchased a $400 skylight and have them installed it and if they damaged the wall during installation, it isn't cover because I, the customer, supplied it.  But such was not the case.  So apparently, it doesn't matter if you bought it from Home Depot or paid for their $900 premier skylight, both are consider "customer supplied."  It would have been more advantageous of me to buy the most expensive skylight from my own supplier approx. $400, have them install it, damage the "trim" and use the rest of the $500 to fix it.  This would've equal the cost of purchasing the skylight from them.
Bottom line is I should have had someone knowledgeable in contract law to review my contract.  If the contract or anything seems confusing, asked questions and have a lawyer review it for clarification.

They came out right away and I couldn’t get anyone else to.  They fixed it completely and I haven’t had any problems with it since then.   I definitely would use them again.

I met with Carlos and he explained his company wouldn't be the least expensive but it would provide the best materials, workmanship and guarantee.  He was correct.
I had estimates from 3 other roofing companies.  They all came in under Valley Boy's bid.  I didn't feel as comfortable with any of the other 3 roofing companies.  Yes, they all wanted my business but I felt they just wanted the job and the money.
I called Carlos back to further discuss with myself and my husband.  Carlos was very upfront about what we needed for this job.  He explained our ventilation was inadequate for the roof size and design.  He also told us we could save some money by doing some of the soffit/ventilation work ourselves.  He was very understanding of my needs when it came time for demolition; I was very concerned about our growing gardens and existing landscape.  I was very pleased they were able to start work in less than 2 weeks.  I got the call they would be out the next day; I assumed it was to just drop of the shingles and dumpster.  I was so pleased to see an entire new roof when I got home from work.  My husband walked the entire yard and only found a few pieces of debri and nails.  He was happy to see our yard, gardens and landscaping survived with minimal damage.  Several days later the gutters were replaced and the entire house looks great!  Carlos came back out to inspect all the work upon completion too.
I have noticed the AC not working as hard.  Our master bedroom has always been the warmest room but now with the upgraded ventilation and new roof we have noticed it is significantly cooler.
I highly recommend Valley Boy's and Carlos.

They were very prompt and when I called they were out within a couple of days.  They took photos of the roof and showed me what felt needed to be repaired and replaced.  They did the work within a week and then they came back with a representative and he went up and checked it again and assured me that it was complete. He told me that they would be back in a year to check it again to make sure that it was still right. They have good follow through and they were very professional.  I don't know about pricing, but a lot of companies that I called would not even call me back because they only want to do the whole roof and not just repairs.  So, I couldn't find another company to come out.   When they seemed agreeable, I just went with them.  I thought it seemed a little high, but when he told me that it could be $20,000 to replace the roof I knew I had to have it done.  Companies only want to do the whole roof and I am not the only one that this has happened to. Everything was upfront including the price; they even did a little extra work for me so I got a little extra service for the money.   I will continue to use their services in the future if necessary.

In and out in 3 days for the roof.  Initially delivered skylights were incorrect and had to be reordered and installed a few days later.  Rebuilding patio roof and covering it with clear plastic top also was delayed due to loss of experienced staff.  Eventually completed about a week later but remaining staff.  This was only a small part of the initial bid and job.

Valley Boys did a fine job from what I can tell and I have had no ongoing problems.  Of course this year it has completely failed to snow.  But I think everything is in great shape.  I trust these guys completely.  The owner, Steve Shannon, is all about making sure the job is done right and with quality.

Did have to wait a long time for them to get started as they had lots of other jobs.

I would not hesitate to call them back for additional work on other houses.  Would not consider picking up the phone to even talk to another company.  Valley Boys is my #1 choice.

It was awesome. We hadn't used them before but we would definitely use them again. They also replaced some planks that were rotten on the roof.

Valley Boys did an excellent job. They replaced the shingles on an addition to my house and I expect to use them again this spring to reshingle the remainder of the house. The job looks to have been done perfectly and made it through the winter with no problems of any kind.  In doing the roof they did find the need to remove and replace and repaint some siding which was also done in an outstanding fashion. They had a friendly, hard-working crew from Buck to Oscar and Omero doing the roofing and Brent and his helper doing the siding and painting. Great job all around. Steve Shannon, the owner, is first class and very committed to providing great workmanship. Even their office manager, Kim, is very pleasant and promptly gets messages passed along. All in all a highly recommended company.  Their prices did end up fairly high.  The original estimator was a nice fellow but he did a poor job of estimating a $5,200 job total for 2 additions.  When Valley Boys got ready to do the job the installation staff, or managers thereof, reevaluated and took a closer look at the estimates and had to call me back and explain the guy simply made a serious mistake.  The addition that was actually completed ended up costing $5,900+ by itself and the second addition would have raised that cost considerably which I was not prepared for at the time.  So the work on the 2nd addition was postponed.  Plus the guy who originally did the estimate didn't return calls or communicate when he promised to do so.  The process of selecting a company started back in September and it took until 11/4 before this job was completed due to the lack of communication on the front end by the estimator.  So he personally did a poor job.  But he turned out to be an isolated problem.  All of the actual work was simply outstanding and done in a craftsman-like and professional manner. The guys who did the job knew what they were doing and made sure to do it well. And they worked quickly getting the job done in two days on a fairly steep surface.  Clean up was also perfect with nothing left over for me to do.  I will use them again this spring.
