TruGreen Lawn Care - 5645

TruGreen is a scam, charged higher price and did nothing but hanged invoices to your door! We had used them for over two years and all my grass were killed, clover, dantillion took over my yard! After two years my yard is worst in the neighborhood!

I was a Turf Care customer and they were a great company and never had any complaints. But after they merged with Trugreen it has been nothing but problems. The first problem was my aeration didn't happen on schedule, then they had to reschedule it, then they were suppose to call ahead of time so I could put my dogs away before any treatments, they show up without letting me know ( I have two older dogs that have full run of the yard all day). We get all these problem worked out after a number of phone calls with the local office. Now for the service - my lawn looks worse than it ever has. I have had to call them out multiple times between services and the issue is only getting worse. I ask for the service manager to come out and take a look at how bad the issue is and all I get is a call and told to call him back in a couple of weeks if I don't see any improvements. I haven't seen improvements all season, it has only gotten worse and the only thing I get is a call and attitude. The techs that show have been nice (never the same person) but they have always been nice, but the local branch personnel are very lacking. I would not hire them, they are not about making your lawn look good or about customer service, they are about taking your money and excuses. They have blamed everybody but themselves for the weeds and the service. I wish that Turf Care would never have merged, they were a great company and great to work with. I am looking for a new company for upcoming year.

Trugreen and Turf Care merged (I was a Turf Care customer). My aeration was scheduled a before the merger, my scheduled day comes and goes and they are a no show. I call and I get an excuse that due to the merger it was missed on the schedule. So they said I could fit me in 2 days later. Ok, I let them know that I have two older, small shih tzus that have full run of the yard at all times. They said no problem. They guys show up and tell me they won't aerate because of the dogs. I told them they would see what they are doing then go back in the house. They did agree to aerate. While I was talking to customer service, after they missed their initial appointment, they told me my next fertilization was schedule on a Wednesday, I said sorry they couldn't do it on that day, because I didn't have 24 hour notice. I asked if they could do it after 1 pm on Friday, they said yes. I stressed I didn't want them on my property to fertilize until I could get my dogs in the house. I don't want my two older dogs to be on the chemicals. They said they put notes on my account. Friday comes and the tech shows up, while I was at work, and fertilized my yard and was gone before 11 am. What part of not until after 1 wasn't clear. Long story short - 1. They didn't show up when scheduled 2. The tech shows up before they were supposed to be on my property. I explained a number of times that they couldn't fertilize my yard until after 1 - they DON'T CARE. When I called them to let them know that the tech showed on my property without permission and fertilized my yard all they could do is apologize. They said they would pass it along to the manager and the manager would call----Guess what - NO CALL. The customer service rep at least told me they showed up on the day they were scheduled ---really I care about my animals more than if they show up on the correct day - how about they read the notes. All I will say is BEWARE they don't read the notes on the account, they don't show up when they are suppose to or when they say they will be there.

Excellent company - very professional to work with. Even the person doing the yard work is professional and very knowledgeable about the yard and plants.

We saw the driver at a house close buy and asked for information. He came to our house right then and did a survey and explained the programs. We signed up and he performed the first treatment the same evening. Somehow we saw an immediate effect on the broadleaf weeds with no damage to the ornamental plants. The grass seemed to respond to the fertilizer very quickly.

They've come out 6 times throughout the year. They fertilized and winterized the yard. When I got the service, they told me to call and they'd come out. They came out and sprayed for dandelions. Our yard looks better than it ever does. The staff is very polite and professional. It was a great deal. I'm really happy with them. They've been on time.

I wasn't going to write this review until my last contact. I asked Trugreen to start lawn service last summer. I agreed to a one year contract. I was surprised to find that the contract could only be canceled by a mailed letter. However, it was acceptable. I was satisfied with the fertilization of my lawn. The problem came with weed control. I did not feel they were effective in killing weeds. I pulled more weeds than were killed by their treatment. Later in,the summer they called me to indicate that they could not effectively kill weeds in my lawn because of the bare spots (my understanding of the phone conversation). They advised me that for an additional cost, they would come out and seed the spots. I found this strange as the bare spots were they when they agreed to care for the weeds. I declined the extra service and cost. The person asked how I would care for the spots. I indicated that I could toss some grass seed where needed. After that call, I decided to cancel the service when the year was out. I sent my letter of cancellation to the Lincoln office. They requested that I rate their service. I did and indicated that I wasn't satisfied. I received a call a few days later indicating that a technician was coming out that week I returned the call and indicated thar I had cancelled the service and did not want anyone coming out. The person indicated they were sending someone out because I had indicated dissatisfaction with their service. I told them I had canceled the service and did not want anyone out. He assured me that the call was canceled and that no one would call. The next day a technician was at my house asking why I was dissatisfied and to show him where work needed done. I informed him that I had cancelled the service. In fairness, others I know have had good results from TruGreen. I also have to indicate that their technicians and phone personnel were polite and courteous. I simply wish they had effectively killed the weeds in my yard.

I quit them and I have someone else right now. They had been doing our yard for probably 7 years and they just weren't performing. There were several different incidents so we finally quit them and started up with someone else but I'm not happy with these guys either. I have weeds growing in my front yard for the first time ever and my trees in the back are losing leaves. Tru Green took care of all that. They would call before they came. They would also knock on the door and leave a detailed description of what they did and what they found. They were always courteous. They usually came when they said they would. I am kind of thinking that we shouldn't have quit them, maybe they were the best thing out there. They were expensive. I am coming back up on them. I just might use them again.

We pay ahead, and we pay once a year. They are always there, and they always call before they come, to make sure the time is workable. They are very consistent. We have had them for 5 or 6 years, and we have had no problems with them.

We have been very pleased with the trugreen service. They have recouperated our lawn in just couple of months. I love the online payment option that they provide as well. I would recommend them to anyone.

They were very good. The service was very good. They were professional.

We mostly contracted with them so we wouldn't have to think about it. The first two applications went fine. The next few we noticed they weren't coming so we called and they explained they had a new scheduling system and it had some glitches. This went on all summer. If it rained they would have to reschedule. A week would go by and we'd call and they'd explain the scheduling system set up applications on Sundays and they don't do applications on Sundays so they would miss us. We had to call and schedule our own applications about half the time. The whole point to us of hiring them was so we didn't have to worry about it. Instead we had to keep tabs on when the last one was done and when the next one should be done. To give them credit our yard looked horrible when we hired them and now it looks better than it ever has. They also gave us a refund of one application for the hassle. We won't be hiring them again next year. We are going to pick a different company and see if their service is more reliable

They come about once a month and magically make my lawn look nice.  They have only come while I'm at work, so I've never actually seen them, but this year my lawn has improved drastically and needs significantly less water in order to stay green.  They do a great job keeping the weeds at bay, and I will be using them more in the future.

These folks have very bad follow through, they say they are going to do something and then several days later they might do it. They claimed to use 4.5 gallons of weed control but none of the weeks look unhealthy after an entire week. Also if you live in Lincoln their service is very poor, after this season I will be moving back to Tru-Green.

We went with them as opposed to some of the others because they use spray-on liquid chemicals rather than granular chemicals, so we thought that would be better for the kids to play on the lawn. That and the price, the discount, and the plan that they offer is why we chose them. The plan is that they come out automatically every second week and do stuff. If there's one weed in your yard you can call them and say "You didn't get them all" and they'll come back and spray the weeds. You can either pay at the beginning of the summer - and you get 10% off - or you can pay each time they come out. So either all at once or they'll spread it out over five payments. The salesmen are very pushy. We went with them because of the product but so far we haven't been very happy. We chose them despite themselves. Getting them scheduled to come back and spray again was not simple. When we called, they had already scheduled the visit for a week out from when we called. So we had to wait until it was scheduled, and then the guy didn't come - he had a family emergency - and I completely understand that, but nobody called to let us know. For all we knew, from our end, he just didn't show. He came the next day, and left a little "I'm sorry I wasn't here yesterday" note, but somebody should have called. When you call the office they are very helpful, but that doesn't seem to translate to the field staff.
