They did an amazing job on our floors, which were damaged by water. The staff was friendly & punctual. They did everything they could to minimize the mess. My new floor looks amazing - it looks brand new. I'm very impressed with the work they did.

Their first attempt was so poor that they agreed to try again until we were completely satisfied. The second attempt was a little better, but not by much. There were gaps on multiple stairs. Multiple risers were different heights. When we asked them to repair the steps that still were incorrect, they immediately walked out on the job and said they wouldn't do anymore work. They also talked negatively with vulgar language about us throughout the project. When the owner arrived, he refused to help in any manner and was the most unprofessional of them all. Now, they still claim we owe them the remaining balance for the job even though they quit.
Description of Work: Timberland Hardwood Floors was hired to replace an existing staircase with reclaimed barnwood.

Response from Timberland Hardwood Floors Inc
Contract was between VJ Design company and Timberland Hardwood Floors. Vicky with VJ’s design hired us to install a reclaimed stock product from a source unknown to us, the wood was in poor condition and poor quality with characteristics of a reclaimed affect, nail holes, knot holes, warped boards, we agreed to fabricate wood to work for steps with the understanding that this is not a perfect wood. The customer and the designer knew that this wood was not new, if they would have wanted new wood we would have been more than happy to supply it. After tearing out existing rough in treads we proceeded with the installation of their purchased product, timberland hardwood floors did not supply this product, with little to know guidance from the designer we installed the steps and risers based on usual and accepted practices of step building. Homeowner was unhappy with some of the steps they were too rough or did not like the way we had to two piece the risers. Neither the designer or the Homeowner said anything until the steps were built. The homeowner addressed their concerns with the steps, the designer then needed to purchase additional material from their source in a wider material to make them one piece. We agreed to replace them for the homeowner, Once again this is a reclaimed material not new material. We met with the homeowner, to address their concerns and they became combative and insulting to the managers of timberland hardwood floors we were taking poorly about them and the designers, which they thought they heard from upstairs of the home, (THF was in the basement of the home) which was not the case, Timberland Hardwood floors takes great pride in being professional and did not take kindly to the accusations when the homeowner came down stairs and was combative. Never the less we continued to try to make the homeowner happy with the product we had to work with. After replacing the risers the homeowner then stated that whey would like additional steps replaced, which at this point we could see that this was not going to be resolved as the homeowner did not understand the product and the designer would not explain her vision to them. Our last meeting was with the Operations Manager of THF, the finisher of THF the homeowner and designer, at this point we were there to put what we thought were the finishing touches on the stair project, when the home owner became insulting and degrading to employees, at the this time we felt it was better to have her carpenter finish any work to the steps and we would deduct his cost from our final bill. Vj’s Design submitted the final bill for the carpenters work in which we deducted from our final bill. The final invoice was submitted to Vj’s design in which her response was that the homeowner did not want to pay for services rendered. Also we were threatened with a lawsuit if we pursued the final payment. Our decision was not to put a lien on the property for money owed or to pursue in claims court due to the final amount owed. We wrote off the loss and decided to move forward. After speaking with Vicky at VJ’s design she informed us that she is in litigation with the homeowner for failure to pay her the final balance on the project, in which THF is named as one of the owed subcontractors. The pricing Break down is as follows: 1. 14 steps and risers – remove carpet padding and tack strip, prep stairs for new treads, remove existing ballisters and rest $325.00 2. Customer to provide material as described 1” x 6” T&G reclaimed flooring – create custom tread in work shop to accommodate existing treads 10 ea stringer – 4ea w/right return, trim as needed. Replace Ballisters stain and finish onsite Note: painting to stairwell will be needed following stair build and staining (Not in THF’s scope of work) Note: THF will be using designer product – THF will need to inspect product prior to final quote to insure quality and condition of material $2100.00 3. A deposit of 1200.00 was collected prior to job start with VJ’s Design 4. Balance due was $1225.00 5. THF deducted $550.00 to cover carpenters expenses and other Misc 6. Balance was $675.00 (written off was bad debt) Balanced owed to THF’s $0.00

The room looked great after they were done, but the room below it looked awful! They neglected to tell us that as they tore out the bad section of floor, the broken wood and sawdust would fall onto our couch, books, and carpet in the room below. I'm sure they could tell this was happening, but we did not notice until after the job was done, and then we needed to spend 3 hours cleaning up the room below. Good job on the flooring, but it would have been nice to receive a heads up about the room below so we could have put down a tarp.

Those guys were superb. They showed up on time. They did a better job then I could have imagined. They matched 100 year old oak with current oak and when finished you couldnt tell a differnce. They blew me away. The floors are beautiful. They cleaned up every day. Just extremely professional and their pricing was like $500.00 cheaper then anyone else.
Description of Work: Refinished close to a 1000 sq ft floor. They sanded refinished, repair from terminte damage
