Auto Service
I have never encountered such disrespect from a service station like I did at Ted's Service.
My car started acting funny on my way home from work Friday, November 12. I work until MIDNIGHT, it was snowing heavily and I was unsure my car would get me home safely. Thanksfully it did. Saturday morning I drove to Ted's Service, the local Sinclair gas station, and asked the attendant if somebody could look at my car. He REFUSED then stated he only does oil changes on Saturday and to bring my car back Monday. There were customers inside the front area and one was kind enough to offer to look at my car. NOT THE EMPLOYEE ... A CUSTOMER! The customer, who used to be a mechanic at Ted's, told me what he thought was wrong then he used WD40 on the compressor to lessen the noise explaining it was a temporary fix. He also advised me not to drive the car until it was serviced as it might cause more damage.
Monday morning, around 8 a.m., I took my car back to Ted's and explained what the customer thought was wrong with the car. I gave Ted's both phone numbers to contact me with the results and costs. I did not hear anything from Ted's and ended up having to take the day off - without pay - from work since I did not have a car. Around 4 p.m. I called Ted's to see what was wrong with my car. The person who answered the phone told me my car was done and I could come get it then he hung up the phone without telling me what was done or how much it cost!!! NOBODY FROM TED'S CALLED ME TO TELL ME (1) WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR OR (2) HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE FOR REPAIRS!!!
The A/C went out in my car the summer before and on 05/24/11 I took my car to a different automotive service provider for servicing. I was informed the serpetine belt was bad and needed replaced. When I mentioned I had it serviced by a local gas station mechanic 6 months prior, they recommended I take it back. I called Ted's to discuss the problem and was hung up on so I drove and spoke directly with the owner, Steve Bertagni. Steve agreed to guarantee the serpetine belt and I thought all would be good except when I picked the car up, Steve informed me, "if the belt goes out again, take it to the mechanic who replaced your A/C." NOW I see why the employees are rude at this gas station. The owner is rude to customers! This would also explain why the customer, who was kind enough to help me on Saturday, is no longer an employee for Ted's Sinclair. He was polite, curtious and helpful ... something grossly lacking by the current employees and owner.
I will NEVER use this service station for anything ever again - not even to buy gas!
