We feel compelled to write a review so no other buyer experiences the heartbreak and expense we have incurred. Our agent was Shari with the Absolute Group.
Our situation was that we flew in from another state to buy a house so we would have a home to move into when we returned a few months later.
We found a home we liked. We had very little time to look over the house, in part because our agent had personal issues to attend to.
We offered the listed price because we were assured by our agent we would lose the house if we did not.
Our agent advised us not to ask for a radon inspection and refused to include a one-year home insurance policy on the appliances because she felt we would lose the house by asking for it.
Repeatedly we expressed our concerns about fog in some windows and soggy wood around these windows. Our agent assured us that the home inspector would find any problems and assured us she would be there during the inspection and apprise us of any other issues with the house. In the next month, she advised us on what we should ask to be fixed prior to closing on the house. She sent us a letter from the company that fixed a few windows stating all other windows were in good shape....complete with exclamation marks.
Upon moving in, we discovered rotten wood the size of a fist around many windows...covered over with new paint. One window fell apart when we opened it. We found out later that our agent was not present at the inspection but still advised us on what to fix and what not to fix.
The morning of our second day in the house, we discovered a basement room full of water. The coil in the A/C was cracked. It had been dripping for some time.
Shortly thereafter, we replaced a toilet that had been leaking water and also replaced the dishwasher that poured water all over the floor.
Even with all the promises our agent made she became very difficult to work with once we left. In our opinion we feel our agent was not looking out for our best interests, we feel, she just wanted the sale. After getting no help on any of these issues, we went to the office manager. We discussed the many difficulties and unprofessional behavior with the office manager and received no results. Buyers beware. We had such an awesome experience with our previous agent in another state we could not imagine someone would treat us in the manner we were treated.
We felt the agent misrepresented what she would do for us and misrepresented the house and we feel that the management in general does not care about treating the customer right.
