Owen Roofing

Worst experience I have had. Roof started leakinf after 6 months and kept getting the runaround. Was told it was the siding, but when I called a siding contractor they found nothing wrong with it. Called owen roofing again and they said there was nothing they could do about it. The lady onthe phone was really rude and was trying to blame everyone else instead of trying to help me out. Will never do business with them again and would not recommend anyone else doing business with them.

prompt, courteous and professional. provided advice on roof shingles and all the other extras that go with a new roof. price in-line with other similar companies but you get the small company touch. they truly care about your new roof and want you to be happy. Hard-working, dedicated crew arrived promptly on date promised.

Price was on the higher end of all the estimates, but I wanted quality (or so I hoped). Workers were punctual and work started on time and they were finished in one day. When the work was completed, I noticed that roofing felt was sticking out about 12 inches inside the skylight. I called them back and a worker who spoke very little English arrived about an hour later to correct the problem. I had to point to the skylight since he did not seem to understand my explanation of the problem. He jockeyed the skylight around and removed the protruding roofing felt. The skylight was not seated as it had been before the shingles had been replaced and after the returning worker removed the protruding felt. I had to climb up and paint around the edges since it appeared not to be sitting as low in the window well as it had been. THe workers left debris and nails in the driveway which had to be swept up (I'm still finding nails 8 months later. Additionally, I found later that plastic wrapping from the bundles of shingles sticking out from under some of the shingles on the back side of the house. I doubt that those will seal down properly. In May 2014 we experienced our first heavy rain since the installation, and the skylight leaked like a sieve Providing an indoor water feature cascading down the vaulted ceiling and flowing down the front door. I called them back today. Her excuse was that we had a record rainfall last night. I told her, it did not leak before, it leaks now. We'll see how well they handle this situation.

May 13, 2014 USAA Adjuster confirmed that skylight was not installed properly and is actully jacked up on one corner about an inch and a half. Been calling and leaving voice messages at Owen roofing all morning, no response as of 1PM. Responsiveness score just dropped from and quot;Cand quot; to and quot;Dand quot;.

May 14, Member of crew showed up with tube of caulk ostensibly to correct the problem. I told him that the skylight needed to be taken out and re-installed and showed him the 1/2 gap between the surface of the shingles and the skylight. He took some pictures and left. Got a call later that evening advising me that the skylight was past its useful life and should be replaced because just re-installing it would be no guarantee of not leaking. I was offered free labor if I would purchase a new skylight, they would put in in. I contacted the USAA adjuster the following morning and he said I should have been advised of the need for replacement when the work was done. I called Owen back and provided them with the inside measurements of the skylight window well. Considering the frustration the situation caused all parties, I felt this was a reasonable solution.

What I like is that they took there time. It took them about 4-5 days to complete the job. They did the job right and payed attention to the details. They are very knowledgeable about the building codes.
