They came and did a and quot;preliminaryand quot; check of the roof, deck, house, windows, everything. Told us we definitely had a claim. We thought great! one place to get it all done. They would not allow our insurance adjuster out to and quot;estimateand quot; the damage without the rep from MIllard Roofing being there at the same time... so that took until the end of May to coordinate. (This was a huge city-wide storm.) After the two of them did the adjustment, discussed it, and everything, we got the estimate back from the Insurance company. We then got the estimate from Millard Roofing. We found out the following: 1) the sheet we signed (but did not get a copy) committed us to working with them. 2) stated that the insurance claim money would be paid directly to them--our Insurance company won that conflict. 3) they had a Better Business Bureau certificate in their packet--leading one to believe that it was current. It was from 2008. 4) they contracted out al of the work to be done on our home.
It was like pulling teeth to get anyone to call back. We had a specific rep, and he was not responsive either. Nor were they responsive to our insurance company.
For every piece of work they did, they charged the insurance company 3 times what was pre-determined as the cost and for what the insurance company reimbursed us. Fortunately, our insurance company handled all of that.
In December of 2013, when the work WAS STILL NOT TOTALLY COMPLETED (the roof was, but not all of the other work), they threatened to take us to court for not paying them. We told them we would pay when completed. On December 9 we determined we would pay them for what was completed, and withhold the amount of the remaining work to be completed by March 15 of 2014. They did not deposit that check--handed directly to our sales rep on December 9--until January 12, 2014.
They did complete the work by March 15, and we made final payment to them.
We will not do business with them again. We have taken every opportunity to share our story with other, and try to help them not have to travel the same path.
12,000HOWEVER, the following March (2009), seasonal south winds caused the shingles in one area of the roof to lift and tear. Millard Roofing was notified, and they acknowledged the lifting shingle phenomenon after inspection. They finally repaired the roof on May 13, 2009, 3 months after confirmation of the problem by them. The roof work was warranted for 5 years so despite the tardiness of the repair, they still finally made the repair/replacement of the shingles.
Here it is, March 2014. Guess what? The shingles in the same area of the roof have torn and come out. The warranty period is now over. Millard Roofing's representative has inspected and confirmed the problem.
My requests for repair, which I am willing to pay, become priority 12 on a list of 10. They and quot;have 45 other such repairs to make.and quot;
BEWARE: Millard Roofing cannot service what it sells, and their installation quality is suspect.
