Flooring
Awful. The sales team pushed bamboo flooring, however he neglected to tell us a home humidifier would be needed to keep this floor from warping and cupping - told by install manager after subsequent complaints to fix. Initial install came apart one week after it was done. LL came out to fix, but stopped saying the flooring product was defective. Install manager came out, took some pictures and agreed. He contacted their corporate office, which sent me some paperwork which I promptly completed and returned. Did not hear back from them, even after repeated e-mails and calls for over a month. Finally got a call from corporate who said they would need to send an outside inspector. After I finally contacted the outside inspector personally because I never did receive a phone call from him, he told me he does inspections in several states and would not be able to complete my inspection till at least three weeks out. Three weeks later the inspector came, spent a few minutes taking pictures and readings and was gone. About a week later the corporate office called me saying the floor needed to be fixed! Really, I said that three months ago! Then received an e-mail from the install manager saying flooring was being fed-ex'd to my house. A few days later, three boxes of flooring were on the front porch in the elements. The boxes were torn and product was sliding out of one of them. Oh yeah, since I was not home, my wife got to bring the boxes in herself to get them out of the cold and wet. Now, after telling this to LL, they offer to put in a new floor, at a discounted price, but no credit for the floor I already purchased. So as of 1 March, I'm back to where I was months ago, waiting to get a floor properly installed. Updates to follow.

The sales staff at Lumber Liquidators were helpful and knowlegable professionals. They were careful to explain the different types of wood floors and what flooring would work in our house. Dinsmoore Flooring installation crew were fantastic. The tear out of the old carpet was fast and the installation of the new wood floor just perfect. They educated us at each step so we were informed and there were no surprises. From tear out to clean up it was a perfect job well done.

I am very pleased with the purchase and installation. Of course, only with time will I be able to tell if the flooring stayed down with no problems.

Overall? The material was cheap, the installer was unskilled, and the warranty was worthless. Our floor was only down for 24 hours and full boards cupped, edges feathered and even split, varnish crazed and bubbled. What did we do that caused this, you might ask? A dog water dish sat on the floor. I bumped it. It sloshed. I IMMEDIATELY cleaned it up. Another area - a rubber-backed rug caused it to buckle underneath. In a matter of hours after the spill/cleanup - the wood was doing what was mentioned above. We could not even imagine what would happen after one year, five years, ten years?? The 'amazing' fifty year warranty is ONLY good on the actual box of wood if it is uninstalled. You find that out after your floor is installed. Even in the event that you try to claim a box of uninstalled wood, they will have a reason that it wont be covered by warranty....such as where you stored it and the humidity levels. We followed EVERY requirement to the letter to fulfill the warranty. They basically make you jump through a million paperwork and photo hoops in a 3-day time period. This weeds out people who dont read the fine print about the 3 days. The ones who do all that work? Well, the warranty is no good if you dont buy the cheap liner that "LL" recommends. But, if you do buy the cheap liner, the warranty then states that the liner should have been installed UNDER the subfloor. Really??? Who does that?? You cant win. Period. End of story. Thank God we stopped payment on the last check and recovered a bit of money.
Dont take my word for it, though! If you are thinking of saving a couple of bucks by using LL, all I ask is that you Google your product and read for yourself. Check the BBB, too. You will RUN to a reputable flooring company after you read about the problems. Even if you cant find issues with the product you are interested in, at least Google regarding the warranty they claim it has. Then make your decision.
