In the last two years, I've had plans drawn by Mulhalls and Nebraska Nursery (Lincoln) for other projects. I would recommend Scott over both of these companies. Before our meeting, I created a list for him of plants I liked and plants I didn't want to see. Scott did a great job of using our suggestions and providing some new ideas. He met me at my house both times and worked with my schedule. We did the design in the winter with a spring install. He did a great job of updating me every 2 weeks on the status. He also drove my husband around to look at some of the plants in our plan and to tag our tree.
The cost was right in line with competitors. Once you look at what they charge for labor, you will never do the install yourself again! Very happy with Scott and looking forward to phase 2 and 3 of the plan.
On October 11, 2011 I emailed Naomi Gilbert about a problem with one of the baby blue eyed spruce trees that it looked like it was dying or dead. She replied on October 14 asked if I could email her pictures which I did on October 17. I didn't hear back from her so I emailed her again on October 20. She replied on October 24 that she didn't have any replacements but would check in to it. On October 28 her email said "I don't have and won't until next spring have the baby blue eyes spruce. On November 7 I received a quote via email for fall cleanup from Katie Riniker it read "Attached is the estimate for the clean-up & edging work. While we are out there we will pull out the dead Baby Blue Eye Spruce. I checked with Naomi again about the tree. She said we need to wait until Spring to replace it because the two she has right now do not look nice and will not make suitable replacements."
On March 19, 2012 I emailed Katie asking if she had an idea when the Baby Blue Spruces would be in. Katie replied the same day "We have just started getting in plant material. I don't think I have seen those yet. I will have to look around and see when we will be getting the Baby Blue Eye Spruce in, and I will let you know as soon as we get them to complete the replacement." On April 3, 2012 Katie emailed "I talked to our Outside Sales Manager. He thought we might be getting some Baby Blue Eyes Spruce towards the end of next week. He is not sure, but we will be looking for them, and keep you updated." On April 22, 2012 Katie emailed "Attached is a picture of the Baby Blue Eye Spruce. It looks nothing like what you have in your yard, and that is why I didn't recognize them. The ones that just came in were dug from our field. I was talking to our purchasing agent, and she says that the ones that came from our field have been growing a lot longer, and our tree grower shears them which causes them to get wider. If they are not sheared they will not do this, so the ones in your yard will not do this if they are left untouched. The ones that you purchased last year came from a shipment we got out of Oregon. We do not start getting shipments from Oregon until typically around April 15th. She has to schedule this stuff ahead of time in the fall, so she cannot make last minute changes in the spring. Even though we have had a much warmer spring, we are just now starting to get in those shipments from Oregon since it is only April 20th. Unfortunately, the Baby Blue Eye Spruce are not here yet. She says it will probably be a couple more weeks because they have had a lot of rain up there which is delaying things, and after talking to her today about this she is going to try to put a rush on them. The last couple of weeks I have been talking to our Outside Sales Manager about this replacement as well because he sees what is coming in too...these field dug Baby Blue Eye Spruce that I am sending you a picture of slipped by both of us." May 8 I email Katie for an update. Katie replies "She thinks the truck with the Baby Blue Eye Spruce that are the right size for your replacement are coming in tomorrow or the 15th." I hear nothing back so I email on May 11, was told they didn't show up and that they should be here on the next truck on the 15th. I email Katie on May 17 for an update and she replies "No, I did not see anything come in. I went to ask the purchaser about it, and she said the truck got fouled up. I am still staying on top of this. I'm sorry I do not have anything for you yet."
On May 21 I'm fed up with this whole experience and email Katie "We've been waiting on a replacement since last October. We questioned the quality on both of them as soon as they went in but were guaranteed they would look better in year. Well, one died and the other still looks like crap. We have been more than patient, we want this resolved. At this point we would like you to take back the remaining blue eyed spruce, and either give us our money back or store credit for both". May 24 I receive an email that they will not give us a refund or credit our account but will try selective pruning the remaining tree to see if that helps fill it out and will replace the dead one when ever the shipment arrives which should be sometime in the near future. The near future? really? How do you not know what what you've ordered or when it will be in.......come on!

I received a voice mail from Katie stating that the owner "David Lanoha" had told her that this was not handled and to apologize for the company and to do what it takes to make things right. I was to ask for Mike Fink and he would help us from the customer service side. My wife and I met with Mike who was very knowledgeable and very customer service oriented. He too apologized for the run around and said he would make sure that we taken care of. He made some suggestions and helped us pick out replacement product. Eric Benson was the new Landscape Designer we were assigned. Eric was right on the ball and has impressed us with his professionalism and knowledge of products. Replacements were installed on June 4 and look fantastic.
The hard work of Mike and Eric has restored our belief in Lanoha Nurseries. We have already been working with Eric on several other projects that will be completed this summer/fall and next spring.
