Kitchens By Design

It's great. They were great. It's expensive but it was worth it and they have very good craftsman. Highly recommend them. They've done extra things for us.

The kitchen is beautiful and so functional that it is easy to keep clean. I must recognize Rachel and Jerry P. Because Rachel’s eye for design added so much to the awesome beauty of this kitchen and it’s harmony with the rest of the house. Jerry did all of the construction and takes pride in being sure the customer is involved and delighted in the finished product! There are so many beautiful custom details that he made possible! Kitchens By Design worked with us every step of the way to be sure we loved our kitchen! The kitchen has been done for 18 and I can honestly say that everything is working beautifully! When we had problems with our cabinet source, (no fault of KBD) Jerry and Scott took care of the issue. They decided to no longer sells the line. I want to thank Scott Byrd, Jerry and Rachel for the very hard work of creating a beautiful, spacious kitchen in a small space, not to mention staying on budget!

It went great. Scott's team is very professional, prompt, thorough and helpful. Our designer was Rachel, and she was a tremendous help in selecting everything and offering suggestions. We would've been lost without her! The project manager, Tony, was excellent in keeping things on schedule and going the extra distance to make the end result fantastic. He is an excellent craftsman and very proud of his work, and it shows. Tony made sure everything was cleaned up thoroughly before leaving, even the garage! We really appreciated that there was no unsightly dumpster left in our drive for weeks, like other contractors do. I believe the dumpster was filled and removed within a day or two. Our tile guy was Greg, and he also did a great job. He even explained why he was lying the tile the way he was, and had no problem in answering any questions we had. The company owner, Scott, came by once a week to check on things, and that made us feel like he truly valued our business. He also made some suggestions that greatly improved the functionality of our kitchen, and we knew we were in good hands. Also, although this was a major renovation, we stayed in the house, and Scott's team respected that and worked with us, so it was no big deal. They moved our refrigerator into the dining room and we set up our kitchen there. We have no regrets and are loving our new, beautiful, and functional kitchen!

They were excellent. They may be a little bit more expensive but they did quality work. They drew out a plan for me before they got started and did what I wanted them to do. They gave me a quote and stuck by the quote. They were very quick. They guaranteed all their cupboards for life too; one broke and they replaced it, this was probably close to ten years after installation.

Everything turned out excellent. They installed a gas fireplace, bedroom, bathroom, ceilings, painting, carpeting, and so on. They were a little on the pricy side but the work is excellent.

My husband did not participate much in the process so I worked exclusively with their staff. They were courteous and tried to keep to the schedule they laid out in a notebook. The notebook was available for comments and concerns we might have along the way. They used a kind of project management Gantt chart for the schedule and for the most part they did well. Their lead carpenter's wife had a baby toward the end of the schedule which delayed us slightly. I expressed concern over this and they worked through it with me. I watched closely from day to day and had many questions and comments. They seemed to take everything seriously and addressed everything with great professionalism. Could it have gone smoother? Sure, but it was a massive project that required a lot of communication.

Before I gave them the green light, I asked if I could visit someone's house for which they had done something along the scale of our project. They set it up and I talked candidly to the owner. He gave me some ideas on what to ask and what to watch for which was quite helpful. In his case, he went over budget and time but he admitted that was due to his own decision to add more work. After seeing his house, I decided to move ahead. It was a great job.

I believe the Kitchen by Design craftsmen are excellent and their design team is superior. Don't take my word for it. Go the their website photo gallery and see the before and after pictures. You decide!
