J & J Painting & Remodeling

Jay and his company was hired to do a remodel job after a fire. I could go on for days about his lack of professionalism, qualified framers, roofers, etc. The worst part was he pulled a permit that was never accepted, continued to work and ask for money, until he stopped working as much, wouldn't provide receipts I asked for, and the framing work looked like something that was cobbled together. I asked another contractor to come take a look because I had my suspicions things weren't right. He checked on the permit and that's when I found out it was never accepted due to them needing additional information Jay never provided. This was in May 2023 when i found out, and needless to say the permit wasn't accepted until Sept 2023, the original permit was pulled in either Feb or Mar of 2023. Imagine losing everything and then having to deal with this. Like I said, I could go on for days but all I will say is I hope everyone who is considering his company reads this and thinks twice!

I had my windows replaced. Jay (half of the J & J borthers team), came and measured my windows. Him and his crew were nice enough people, but the work that they did was horrible. To start with Jay incorrectly measured 3 of my windows, so they are significantly smaller, then what they used to be. He also failed to weather seal the windows before putting the trim up. The trim that was put up, is cut pretty bad, that the corners dont align. Jay quoted me 4 days for the install, it's currently at the end of day 16, and the windows are still drafty and not installed completely. Would not recommend. Jays work is comparable to an amateur not a professional.

Was very quick to give a bid on painting the exterior of our house, and promised that his bid was solid. Took him a while to get around to the job, and took him about a week to complete. They called and said it would be another $300 because it was more work than anticipated. So I agreed. They never painted the trim white like I asked, they painted the same color as the house. Took about 5 phonecalls to his cell phone leaving messages. Finally got hold of him, and he promised he would come back out and paint the trim white which hasn't happened. Overall disapointed with communication and expectations.

Poor prep work. No drop cloths so extra cleanup required by customer. Some areas were missed so I had to fnished then myself. Actual paint job was good however and crew was polite. Shelves that were installed weren't level and one fell out of wall later because of inadequte wall anchors. Switch plates were not replaced or left with missing screws. Paint cans were lef with loose lids, so second coats had bits of dried paint clumps.

They did a great job.
