Hoffman Weber Construction

We asked the manager, Jake, when doing the contract if when the work was performed would the worker's vehicles say Hoffman Weber Construction, he smiled and said yes.  We explained we were concerned as we have had other businesses contract out work and we want to deal with the provider directly. We also asked if all the workers had background checks and were employed by Hoffman Weber Construction, again yes.  On the date the roof was scheduled to be done, 7/3/2013, two vehicles showed up and they didn't have Hoffman Weber Construction name on either. I called the office, they said this was the 'crew' they used. The names were partially worn off, it appears one was a plumbing truck in its previous life.  I called later as they had torn the roof off my shed and that was specifically excluded on the contract. Jake said how could that be as it was listed as excluded on the work order.  We did not have to pay for the shed roof since it was their error. The next Monday, 7/8/2013,  I was contacted by Cody Reid, our original contact/project manager.  He asked about payment, I asked when would the gutters would be done and the a/c comb out.  He said he didn't know. I asked if he could find out. He said he would have to call back. He called back and said the gutters were scheduled 7/5/2013, I said they were not here.  He said well it was a holiday. He said the gutters would be installed on  Tuesday and set up a meeting with me on Wednesday after work to collect payment and discuss the work.  The gutter staff arrived at 6:15 pm on Wednesday, not Tuesday, as indicated by Cody.  Cody called me on Thursday to confirm the meeting in the evening although it had been scheduled for the day before but he didn't' show up or call or tell me the gutter company was delayed a day. I said I was concerned as the gutter company broke a fascia board when installing the gutters. He said they did not as their inspector had been out.. I sad it's 9:15 am and they finished 7:30 pm last night and you are saying this was inspected between last night and this morning while I was home and I missed it?  I reminded him my roof had been inspected by someone who actually had their company logo on it Monday before gutters. I voiced my unhappiness with the experience as the a/c was not done, a board was broken on the house, the gutters and roof had been contracted out to other companies which was in conflict of what was discussed with him and Jake. His response was that the other part of payment was due upon completion of roof which was 8 days ago and so I was 8 days past due and he said he was concerned with me as a customer. He said I had refused payment, I said I had only asked when the stuff would be done/scheduled and did not refuse. I hung up as it was getting no where and told him that was not customer friendly. I then took a check to the office within 20 minutes of the call so as not to be delinquent.  They eventually sent out Heather from the office, she got the board fixed by yet another company and the a/c combed out by the last week in July.  The gutter company denied breaking a board but  the board was a story and a half off the ground and was an obvious split from a crowbar from removing the gutter.  Luckily the insurance company and Hoffman Weber Construction had pictures showing it was not broken before.  The board was not replaced instead it 'bonded'/glued and painted over. The packed of information given to us before hiring this company showed BBB accredited and Angie's list super service award 201-2012.  This company has offices in multiple cities and is new to Omaha. I had to add this provider for Omaha so their Angie's list award was in some other city. Heather was great and apologized about al the problems and poor customer service.  Jake and Cory who work with contracting were dishonest and rude. If you want multiple companies with beat up old vehicles with other names partially scraped off their vehicles as Hoffman Weber Construction has contracted the work out, choose this company.   The gutters look ok but the crimping is a little shoddy, I think it took less than 1.5 hours to replace all the gutters on my split level home and garage. I will never ever deal with this company no matter how great Heather was as so many other things went wrong.
