The short answer . . . Gary Haldeman is honest, creative, attentive, and delivers quality you cannot believe. We asked for four things: make our master bathroom beautiful; make it appear bigger than it is; make it easy to clean; and make it super functional and durable. He delivered and then some, on time and on budget. We cannot recommend HC Remodel & Design highly enough.The long answer . . . We were faced with a tiny, 1967 bathroom off our master bedroom that had become unusable. The plumbing was shot and leaking, the materials were so old they could no longer be repaired, and the design was awful and dated. The room was causing us a lot of stress. It had to go. We had never undertaken a remodeling project before; complete and total novices. We began the process of seeking proposals. We had companies come give us the quick rundown and throw a sheet of prices at us with lots of "to be determined" in the margins; companies who called back once then never again; companies who _never_ called back; wow, it was an adventure. Then, we found HC Remodel & Design. ESTIMATE -- Gary visited (twice), talked about our goals with us, measured and completed drawings, and consulted with his plumber on a few points BEFORE providing us with an estimate. So again, we were not even clients yet, and _that_ was his attention to our project. Impressive. Clearly, he's very busy, and would often ask to stop by in the evening. Always on time, always courteous, always worked great with our schedule. In the end, he delivered an estimate that above all else was ACCURATE and REALISTIC. These projects (ours a total gut with all new plumbing) are not cheap, and Gary's estimate may not be your lowest, but you get what you pay for. With Gary, there were no shocking surprises during the project because of the care that went into preparing for it. RECOMMENDATIONS/GUIDANCE -- Gary is very creative and has terrific ideas. In our case, we were wanting to make a very small space appear larger. It never would have occurred to us to wall hang our toilet and sink, but Gary suggested it, and what a great decision. He also crafted a custom in-wall cabinet and some in-wall cubby areas for us that have increased our storage space exponentially without taking up any precious room space (also recommended some materials we had not considered using as accents that add interest yet are highly durable and were inexpensive). He suggested some unique stain work as well to create a focal point in the room that draws your eye up to the now higher ceiling, and it's beautiful, and directed us to his preferred suppliers for fixtures, tile, etc., and everyone was great. WORKMANSHIP -- The room is gorgeous. Period. Functionally, there are no issues . . . all plumbing is working great. Installation was outstanding. Gary hires great craftsmen, several of whom told us how much they admire Gary and enjoy working with him (and bonus: we have a cat in our home, and they all were very careful about his whereabouts and gave him extra scratches every day, so that he was not stressed by the process at all). The best aspect, for our project, is the tile work. We just love it! The attention to detail there was beyond expectations, and it is really flawless. COMMUNICATION -- Gary and Crystal in his office were so responsive from the beginning to the end of our project. They use a software program that allows you to see the progress of your project, monitor the budget, compare all of your selections in one location, and most importantly, posts notes and ask questions. Nothing ever gets lost in voice mails or a sea of emails. We absolutely loved the ease of that program, and Gary or Crystal always responded to our questions posted there in a timely fashion. INTEGRITY -- Meet once with Gary, and you'll know who you are dealing with. He is outstanding at his work, a true craftsman who clearly loves what he does, and a business man who delivers. But you are also working with a person who is honest and true to his word. We trust him implicitly and would never hire anyone else.

HC Remodel and Design is an excellent company. From start to finish, Gary and all of his staff took great pride in my master bath remodel. They were very professional, highly skilled, communicated well, were available for any questions or concerns no matter how small, took great care to keep things as clean as possible, were always courteous, and were as interested in my project and it's outcome as I was. I couldn't be happier with my master bath. It's the result of their experience, talent, guidance, and attention to even the smallest detail.

We selected Haldeman Corporation because of the top reviews they had reviewed. From the start, we really appreciated Gary?s honest,  sincere, and knowledgeable approach to answering our questions and concerns. He really took the time to checkout the job and ended up giving us a bid the was half of the next lowest (four others). More importantly, we felt like he spent the time to see what needed to be done, and was able to leave us feeling confident about the job he would do. 
Since that time, we have hired Haldeman Corporation for some of the finish work on our kitchen cabinets. We love the results. They continue to be professional and responsible, treating my home with respect. I have two more major renovations to complete on my home and plan to use Haldeman Corporation for the work. I have put Haldeman Corporation in my contact list as the only contractor for work on my home.

It took much longer than we expected, but we were out of town a lot and the selection process was slowed down accordingly.  Gary worked with us extremely well.  He's wonderful to work with.

We are very happy and satisfied with Gary and his crew. They were always on time and made us feel that our project was their priority. Gary was very easy to work with as I wanted to do some of the finish work myself such as painting and finishing the woodwork on the vanity base. The installation of the shower and vanity top went really well and looks amazing. Of the four estimates we got, Gary was in the mid-range price-wise but of all the estimates, his was very accurate and was very thorough.
We had to have Gary's plumber come out around 4 months after installation to repair the shower valve, which was leaking.. I called Gary and the plumber was there the same day. I was not charged for the repair. I would recommend Gary to my friends as he does an excellent job.

Gary and his crew were professional, punctual, and friendly.  Gary communicated his plan well and answered all of my questions cheerfully.  Couldn't ask for a better experience at a fair price.

The bathroom looks amazing. The crew did a wonderful job, every one was very friendly and most importantly professional. One thing I really liked about dealing with Mr. Haldeman was that he was not pushy at all, didn't charge a crazy amount for the job. I would recommend these guys to anyone that needed work done.

I had a basement that was a complete disaster. I had started to work on it through out the years. Note: I am a very slow worker  

without a deadline. Finally got feed up with my slow progress. Basically no progress at all. Decided to get quotes to finish. When Gary came over I liked his vision on what should be done. He was willing to work with me on some of the items I could do to save a little money. He is very detail orientated. He has a great group of sub-contractors. Everything went very smooth, He showed up when he said he would be here. Keep a clean work area. Making sure he did the best he could to keep the rest of the house clean. All I can say is you may find somebody that is a little cheaper, but you will not find anybody that is a better craftsman then Gary and his crew,.

Everything was perfect can't ask for a better experience. From the first time I called everything went smooth. He had to make the door way wider since I was adding a side light. He was busy but worked me in between a couple big jobs he was doing. They did the install one day and had to come back the next to finish a little trim work. The estimate given was the price I paid.
I will have him do more work in the future for sure. Door looks great.

Gary is very professional. The job was delayed a few weeks but this was mainly out of the contractors controlled. Quality work and excellent finished project. Would definitely recommend his work.

Gary did an outstanding job.  Our home had a very closed off front room, which is common.  We wanted to take down part of the wall between the front room and our kitchen, but it was difficult with the stairway in between.  Gary was able to take down almost half of the wall, put in a very nice, decorative stairway banister and raise the ceiling above the stairway.  It completely opened up our front room and made our house flow a lot better. 

I think the best thing was his attention to detail.  The banister wood matches our trim throughout the rest of the house.  He suggested that we change our garage door to match our other doors.  He helped us match paint colors and coordinate the floor tiles.  He also put little pieces of trim in places that I wouldn't have thought to do so, but really just polishes off the look.

Another great thing was his scheduling.  My husband and I both work overnights and sleep during the day.  Gary was so flexible with us - he would come to our house around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and work well into the late evening.  He never once disturbed our sleep and that was something we were concerned about. 

During the process, he was very neat and tidy.  He kept plastic up when he thought there would be a mess.  He disposed of all of the leftover materials and he even told me he likes to take them to the recycling center which I thought was nice. 

My only gripe at the time of the remodel was that completing the project seemed to take a little bit longer than expected.  But, looking back on it now, it really wasn't that big of a deal.  It really was a lot of work for one person to finish and he did an excellent job.  I think I was just so stressed because it was the holiday season and I wanted to put up our decorations.  :)

Thank you Gary for remodeling our home.  We will definitely hope to be using your services in the future when we remodel our basement. 

Gary was a wonderful source for us before the project even began.  I originally wanted the doorway in a certain area and when Gary looked it over he suggested another area.  It turned out that it was great advice which I believe will save us problems in the future should we decide to remodel the kitchen.  I love the doorway, Gary did such a wonderful job with it that one would never realize that it wasn't always there.  He made a hole in the existing wall, framed and drywalled it.  The opening matches the existing doorway into the dinning room. He kept his area clean and cleaned up everything before he left. One additional task that Gary did was to go out of his way to match the flooring in our new threshold to a specially designed preexisting threshold.   Gary was very kind and thoughtful to work with.  I would definitely use him in the future with carpentry needs.

From start to finish the project went smooth, and Gary was very patient with us, and flexible to accommodate our schedules. On the initial visit, Gary asked us several questions regarding our expectations, likes/dislikes/etc..., as well as provided suggestions based on his experience. Once we settled on an idea, he presented us with drawings (which we approved), and then created a mock up of some decorative columns that he suggested so we could get a better understanding of how they would look. Once he got to work, he did everything he could to contain the workspace in the living room. We have an open concept home and he laid out drop cloths in the work area, and utilized plastic and enclosed the workspace, which alleviated the remainder of the house from dust. Once the work began, it took about 8 work days to create the cabinets, sand, stain, and finalize the electrical. I was very comfortable working with Gary, as he takes pride in his work, and genuinely wants to do a good job and satisfy the customer. I found him to be very responsive, as well as those who stained the woodwork and perfumed the electrical work. We had tried about a year ago to do this project, and did not have a high degree of comfort with the contractor, and decided this year to look at it again. I am glad we used Angies List, and more glad we found Gary Halderman.

Professional, gives good suggestion, did more work than in the scope of the project. Finished project on time.

He came and gave me a good quote and I had a good experience with him. It was scheduled the day after I called them so it was good. It was a good response. He gave a very professional opinion and estimate. He tried to work with me on some solutions. He had a very knowledgeable subcontractor for the painting portion so that was helpful. We're selecting him for doing the work. We'd have to go through a little process on our end. He knew what we needed. He took the time measuring and offering solutions. He was right on time.

Update (1/8/14) - Gary did an excellent job on all of our repairs - as stated above.  We highly recommend Gary.

Gary Haldeman (Haldeman Corp) is attentive to detail and a skilled craftsman.  We wanted an update to a bathroom as well as repair to some drywall in one room and a 'laundry list' of other little things.  Gary acted as general contractor for several of the specialty parts of the project; the drywaller, painter and floor installer.  Those individuals were all very skilled, pleasant and prompt. Everyone cleaned up after themselves and we didn't find ANY drywall dust.  Gary has lots of creative ideas and worked within our budget.  We were pleased that he was willing to take on the smaller "fix-up" parts of our list. He is very talented and as a result is in great demand.  It took somewhat longer than we thought it would for him to get to our project but we are glad we waited.  Gary kept in contact with us before and during the project to make sure everything would start and finish in a timely manner. 

The owner, Gary Haldeman, did the work in my kitchen himself. Gary is friendly and is a true professional. I needed work done in cabinet toe space areas so I could have new flooring installed in my kitchen. Gary noticed when he came for an estimate that my dishwasher had not been installed properly. The man who installed my dishwasher years ago cut corners and installed it high rather than low. He also didn't finish my cabinetry properly. After Gary did his work, I had to call a plumbing company to reinstall the dishwasher before the vinyl flooring was installed. Gary also fixed the end of my countertop which was also not done properly years ago. Gary is busy and may not get back with you immediately when you call him, but he is well worth the wait. He was on time for his appointments--estimate and installation. I am so glad I joined Angie's List and found him in my search.

I had faulty windows with leaking. I had just bought the house last year and was beside myself. Gary was a real professional and pinpointed the problem right away. Since he fixed some windows and replaced some, I have been very happy. I will call Gary again in the near future.

Terrific!  Gary was consistently prompt, professional, courteous, and did great work.  He and his refinisher perfectly matched the wood finish to the existing railings on our stairs.  The new railings are both sturdy and very pleasing--excellent addition to our home (and help to make it a bit safer, as well).

All jobs done to satisfaction and goes above and beyond what is asked.  Truly cares about customer.  Will continue to use for other remodeling and misc work.
