GREAT PLAINS AUTO BODY

Auto Body Work, Auto Service,

About us

We have come a long way since the night Bruce and Joyce sat down around the table with their kids to think of a name for this shop, but family is still at the heart of our operation. Bruce and Joyce Hansen founded Great Plains Auto Body in November 1988 as a family owned and operated auto body repair shop. We first opened our doors in Omaha, Nebraska in a 5000 sq. ft. leased facility at 78th and “F” street. In 1992, 2500 sq. ft. were added. In 1996, we purchased the 17,000 sq. ft. building and 3 and 1/2 acres of land, which serves as our current location. The growth did not stop there. In 2000, we underwent a major addition to the repair facilities (12,000 sq. ft.) and an extensive remodel to the administrative offices. Along the way, we have found excellent employees who believe in the service we want to provide. In 2007 we opened a second location in the Lake Manawa area of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 2012 we opened a third location off of 108th and Maple Street in Omaha. All of our growth has only helped us to serve you better, and our family roots have kept us grounded.

Perfect experience. Most importantly, their work was flawless. But their customer service was great too. Kept me informed all the way through and finished in the timeframe given up front. Friendly and professional staff too. Will NEVER use anyone else.

Took the car in early in December. They had the car for 7 days then said they needed a new part. We picked up the car. When they notified us that the part was in they indicated with the holidays the service time would be longer. Because we had some out of pocket expenses associated with the rental car we agreed to wait until after the first of the year. Took the car in and still waited for over a week for the repair resulting in over $300 dollars in out of pocket rental car car expenses.

Work was actually contracted out to one of two local guys they work with regularly. I was told of this right up front which was very nice. The shop was hosting the claims service for Progressive Insurance following a huge hail storm. The reps from Great Plains worked well with the claims adjustor to have the damage repaired and paid for quickly. The GP rep coordinated the service in a timely manner. Repair work was done through paintless dent removal. It has been 6 months the work was complete and I have had no problems. My only minor issue was that several weeks after the repair...I noticed my Aftermarket bed cover was not reinstalled squarely and I had to fix.

The work quality was good, but when I went to pickup the vehicle, there were still a couple dents they didn't get out. I was told that they were not in a place that they could be easily repaired. After getting the car detailed at a vendor they suggested, I was sold that they dents were an easy fix. I returned to Great Plains and they took out the other dents and charged an additional $100. The price seemed fair, just not sure why they didn't do it the first time and tried to tell me it wasn't possible.

Extremely well!. Staff got me in and out in less than 15 minutes. I was able to just drop by without an appointment.
Estimate was better than the two i received.
I would highly recommend using Great Plains.

We were able to get in within a few days of calling for an appointment, and the vehicle was finished in 2 days! Very prompt.
The work was great (we have some personal experience with body work - so we know it was good!), and they were very friendly and professional. The cost was even less than we were quoted. It was a great experience!

I will rate them poor for not committing to the time they indicated . Great Plains Maple street location kept my vehicle for dent and paint repair for 4 days without doing anything and then notified me on the delivery date , that it will take them another week and quot;per their production managerand quot; . I have email from them indicating the repairs will take 4-5 days and when I gave my car on Monday , they indicated they would be done by Thursday. When I called them on Friday, they had nothing done , so I took my car away. Poor Service . I took my vehicle away from their shop.

It went well. The only downside was waiting so long to get booked in for the work. To be fair though, the local area was flooded with hail damage repairs after a big storm so this was out of their control.
The staff were friendly and even gave me a small military discount.
I would strongly endorse them due to their quality of work and nice staff. Having your vehicle out of action is always a pain but they lessened that by being very accommodating.
Hopefully I never need car body work again but if I do, at least a know a top notch place to get it done.

Went in without an appointment for an estimate. The estimate for dent removal and paint was $759. The estimator decided that the dent could possibly be removed paintless so called in another estimator to look at the dent. He said that he could and gave an estimate of $175 to $300 to do the repair right. The work was performed the following day and the final bill was $200. The door looked like new.

The job was done up to my satisfaction, paint matched the original. The Great Plains specialists called me with updates every day. They arranged transportation of my vehicle to the shop and back home.
They did very good job.
I would recommend this company to everybody - it is my first choice from now.

Seth was the only inspector from the 3 estimates that opened the hood to get a complete look at the damage. The work was completed in a professional manner and ahead of schedule. I plan to use them for all my future needs in this area and I will recommend them to my friends.

I took it to a couple of other places and they said that they wanted to do skim it out and the estimate was $2000, but they used a giant plunger thing and pulled out the dent. It looks pretty good and did not charge me for it. I would go back to them again. I liked that they provided great customer service from all their staff in all departments.

I was given an estimate by Travis, who treated me with respect and a great deal of professionalism. When I called back to set up an appointment, I was told I would have to wait a week for the parts to be ordered. Not bad considering it was Memorial Day weekend. I was initially told my car would need to be kept for two or three days to complete the work. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call that afternoon from Travis, saying my car would be done by four o'clock. When I picked up my Honda, I was again surprised by finding it washed and vacuumed. They even touched up two small spots on the hood of my car where the paint had chipped off (no charge) and the total cost was under the actual estimate. I highly recommend Great Plains Auto Body and would definitely use them again in the future.

They used a method called paint free auto body repair, which means that they used a special high vacuum suction device. It didn t damage the paint in any way and they did a great job. It was the same day service and they offered rentals, in which I didn t need.

This job took about three weeks to complete, but they did good work. They ordered a brand new bumper and did a special paint touch up on the sides of the van. They didn t offer us a rental car while our car was being fixed. I graded them all C's because it was such a long wait to get the car fixed and them not offering us a rental car.
