Diamond Cut Construction definitely did not meet our expectations. We hired them to do a remodel in our home and a job that should have taken 3 - 4 weeks took 5 months to complete. All throughout the process we were told that things would get done but we had to continually push to move the project along. We were promised many things before, during and after the project such as: A 3D rendering of our project A daily sheet of who would be working in our home A detailed written breakdown of every penny that was spent and what it was spent on 24/7 contact with the project manager if needed $1,500 in other household services as a gift The highest quality in workmanship and products NONE of these things were done for us!!!! We had to pay in installments as parts of the project were done. We made our first payment and several weeks later they finally began working. We made our 2nd payment and at that time we were told they needed ALL the money for the project up front. We made them stick to our original agreement but we still wound up furnishing many of all the materials paid for out of our own pocket, just to keep the project moving. As the project progressed, we started receiving calls from the subcontractors asking for money since they hadn’t been paid. When we confronted the project manager we were told that no sub gets paid until the entire project gets done. We should have been suspicious at the time but we accepted this as their business practice and didn’t think any more of it that is until the project was finally completed. All throughout the project, we had to continually talk with them about the quality of the work. They installed the flooring incorrectly and chipped many of the pieces so that the floor looks bad and will probably have to be replaced at some point soon. They were supposed to have professional painters come in but they went ahead and painted it themselves. They painted the walls, doors, trim and cabinets and we had to have them redo much of it and it still isn't very good. When the HVAC unit was being installed, it was dropped on the ground but it was installed anyway. The subs had to come out and fix the unit and remove some of the dents and it still doesn’t seem to work like it should but we can’t get anyone to come out to check on it because they were never paid by Diamond Cut. These are just a few of the issues we had. We got to the point where we were just so fed up with all the issues that we just gave up and made our final payment to get them out. When the final payment was made I asked for lien waivers which never came. I was told that they weren’t needed and that the contract we signed with Diamond Cut was all the protection we needed. Well it wasn’t but a couple of weeks later when we had a lien put on our home and another sub threatening to place a lien. They had not been paid anything. We tried and tried for a month to get a hold of the project manager at Diamond Cut but could not get anyone. We spoke with the sub that had placed the lien and they said that they had never received any money and that they had not heard from anyone at Diamond Cut regarding making any payments. We called the rest of the subs and found out that while one had been paid in full (about $1500) the others had only received a very small amount and had been trying to get full payment from Diamond Cut. Several of them said that they were sent checks from Diamond Cut as payment but the checks always bounced. The sub that put on the lien then sued us for the full amount owed to them. We had to settle with them so they wouldn’t foreclose on our home even though we had paid Diamond Cut in full according to our contract. We finally got hold of our project manager and when confronted about why no one had been paid even though Diamond Cut had received all our payments, the project manager made us feel like it was all our fault. They couldn’t understand what the problem was and that in their whole career they had never been sued. They didn’t know why we should be upset about getting sued and that we probably have the money so we should just take care of it. They were absolutely oblivious to the fact that they did anything wrong. Now you tell me – We paid our contract in full but got sued because the subs weren’t paid what was owed to them by Diamond Cut. We provided much of the material to keep the project moving and didn’t receive many of the things we were promised. Diamond Cut got all our money, hardly paid anyone, and then we get sued. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIAMOND CUT CONSTRUCTION. They promise you the world but when they fail to pay the subs, you get sued!
