So far, it's been good.

Chieftain moved our belongings across the country, but did not pad or protect any furniture with moving blankets or secure any drawers. I even provided the plastic wrap and requested them to secure the drawers, but they did not. When I noticed they were not using moving blankets, I asked about this and they said they would once the items were in the van. But when they arrived to our new home, nothing was protected or padded. I've used commercial moving companies twice in the past 8 years, and have never seen our items handled with such little care. Several items we damaged and terribly scratched and a few items were lost (assuming they broke during the move). One of the movers said our items were moved several times between warehouses during a week and a half storage period. Why would they do this? It seems like they would want to touch our items as little as possible. Also, during the final check-out, all of our items were marked damaged, soiled or scratched on the inventory. Even items that were in perfect condition. |Also, the movers were not professional, and it seemed like a summer job for a kid home from college. |The only reason I'm not rating Chieftain an F on everything, was their ability to handle our insurance claim swiftly (they highlighted the incorrect insurance line for me to sign on the contract, relieving them of any liability FYI). They were able to provide an ok settlement to our claim, but it was not worth having our furniture arrive damaged and dirty with such little care. |
