Russ Brown not only inspected every inch of my house to make sure there were no dime-sized openings, he found a broken screen around the chimney top and he custom-made a new screen to make sure the bats could no longer get in that way. He also tore down some old fiberglass the former home owner installed under the floor of the deck. YUCK! That was a haven for spiders and could have been for the bats too. He charged WAY less than the other quotes I saw on Angie's List, AND he was the ONLY one that responded to my call immediately. I called three others, two never bothered responding at all (!) and one didn't call me back until 8 hours later! I cannot tell you how relieved I am to be rid of the bats - I could not even sleep worrying about them getting in the house. Russ gave me peace of mind, and he is the NICEST person.

Had to use my ladder and I was up on the roof as the gentleman appeared hesitant to go onto the roof.
Used some steel wool and aluminum screen that was stuffed into valley liners.
Initial guano in attic after steel wool and screen installed, none lately.
I would probably contact another company or even at my age I would just do it myself.

"This customer forgot to mention he has an old three story house with an extremely steep roof. Since safety is one of my top priorities I was hesitant to go up onto this particular roof. Some steep roofs require a lift to insure safety. This customer stated he goes up there all the time and would show me how he safely gets up there. My ladder was used to initially get us up onto the second floor. His smaller ladder was used to get us up onto the third floor which was very steep. The fact that the problem was fixed, also according to the customer, tells me I did the required job. The fact that I am good about explaining the process to customers and probably explaining to well, to the point of the customer stating he could just do it himself . I would rather lose a customer by educating them and allowing them to do it themselves next time rather than rip someone off or give poor customer service. Integrity is very important to me… I even lowered the price for this customer since he kind of assisted me so it was disappointing to see his negative comments. I guess you can’t please everyone."

He came out the day before to look around. The next day he was here for an hour to go into the hot attic to screen off the vents.

I heard scratching in my upstairs walls on one side of my house. After calling a number of pest control companies I found they either didn't deal with bats or one was extremely expensive (about $1400) to do what Mr. Brown did for $180. He came over and told me immediately what he would charge and that there would be no charge unless he did somehting to fix the problem. He listened to the walls and heard the scratching, went up into the attic but couldn't reach the space where the bats were. He left and said he'd be back around dusk to see if he could see the bats leaving to feed. He returned and watched an area that he thought could be the hole. We counted 13 bats exiting. The next day Mr. Brown returned, attached the screen (described in services). That night when the bats left, they were not able to return and I've heard nothing since. Mr. Brown is very knowlegable about his work; his prices are reasonable and he is a very kind,thoughtful, and friendly man who does very nice work. I highly recommend him for your bat or other pest problems.
