Concrete Repair
The railing repair work was not done, and the new concrete pad was "wet set" into the existing railing base. This caused water to seep into the railing bases, freezing during the winter and the concrete cracking at almost all railing post bases. Several chunks of the new porch concrete have fallen completely off from the new pad as a result of this cracking around the posts. The new concrete steps also has cracking around the base of the railing posts. This will result in a complete replacement of the concrete pad, porch steps as well as correct repairs to the railing.
After the new porch pad was replaced, Bob's Big Red Services did not leave any drip-edge along the parameter of the concrete pad. This caused the pad to be flush with the flagstone base of the porch without any overhang for water to drip off the porch. As a result, the flagstone would have water running directly into it causing further damage. This work was completely unacceptable and was discussed promptly with Bob (owner) and his crew foreman within a week after the work was complete. His crew seemed to lack the experience and quality expertise to pour and finish concrete properly.
I did not pay Bob's Big Red Services the estimated $1,175 due to the problems encountered, and filed a certified letter explaining the reason for lack of payment. I explained to Bob that the work was completely unacceptable and will now cost more to have it repaired properly. No response from Bob's Big Red Services was received after the letter was sent.
Hired another contractor to completely tear-out and replace porch pad.

Bob was very nice and showed up on schedule for the initial quote which came in at $1000 for a 12x12 patio. We gave Bob the go ahead to "make it happen". The next day I spoke with Bob to let him know we had decided to take the patio out to the edge of the house (making it about 12x14). He said OK. We waited 2 more weeks before calling Bob again to find out when he would be performing the work. Bob stated that since we had changed our requirements he would have to come by again to provide another quote. Scheduled for Saturday. No show. Scheduled for Sunday. Quote increased from $1000 to $1600 (a %60 increase).
Huge waste of time!!!!

Concrete Repair
They arrived promptly, tore out the old concrete, and cleaned up thoroughly the first day. They dug the hole deeper than the original driveway, installed and tamped down a base layer of crushed rock, drilled for, and set rebar tie-ins, installed welded wire mesh reinforcements and a double-wide expansion joint. The next day they poured and finished the driveway to perfection! They even fixed a crack left by A+ heartland concrete. (Stay away from them!) They had extra concrete left over. Rather than wasting it or taking it back, they asked me if I'd like them to pour a pad for my hose. I had four large pavers that I was using for my hose pad. The worker explained that he was going to put the concrete underneath and put my pavers on top. I asked him if there was a charge for it. He said "no," but I would have, had I known what he was going to do. He set my pavers precisely into the slab! It looks awesome!

The project went well. He was good about scheduling, but wasn't the best communicator. Somehow a couple wall caps weren't glued and one was actually upside down. After letting him know he fixed it promptly. My only concern about finished work is that the geo-grid plastic is showing through some of my retaining wall. I have been contacting him for weeks to come and cut it out or fix it and haven't seen him yet.
I was otherwise very pleased with price and walls built. Over 160' long wall around 3-4' tall. And my driveway was over 2 full concrete trucks.

Everything went wonderfully. He did a great job preparing and laying the steel rebar, and poured a fantastic grade concrete. I would recommend them to everyone.

Concrete Repair
Bob and his helper mixed the cement in a wheelbarrow in the driveway (as expected) and carried the cement into the basement in 5 gal. pails. The concrete repair was done satisfactorily. No plastic was put down on the carpet leading to the utility room. They did track some concrete into the basement (minor) but it was not cleaned up before they left.
The repair work was OK, but trying to get him scheduled was totally unacceptable. Please recognize I was not upset about the one week lapse between plumbing and concrete repair, but rather it took a week for Bob to even schedule a date for the repair.

We called and left a message with all of the details/requests above. After a week, we still have not heard back from them. We are not sure if it is too small of a job or if they are too busy to even return our call, but we never heard back from them.
