Bearded Builders

The owner, Eric, came to assess the work that needed to be done. I joked that he was a baby whisperer because every time he was in the same room as my newborn daughter she would stop crying. I explained that I was interested in having our fireplace updated during the same time as the flooring. I told Eric that every year I host Christmas and this year could be my mom's last year celebrating with us because she had stage 4 cancer. Eric was very considerate and said that he would make it work. I later learned that he rearranged a couple jobs to fit us in because of our circumstance and even met with his employees and explained that they were to make our work a priority. Eric put Tim and the crew in charge of our house and they did a great job! They were punctual, professional and really took the time to provide excellent quality. Eric did stop by the day the crew was planning to start to check and make sure they had everything they needed. I was worried that the noise would disturb my daughter, but it actually soothed her to sleep every day they were here. The flooring and fireplace were finished prior to Christmas and my mom LOVED it! She kept wanting to come over so we could have a fire the whole winter season. Even when she had trouble getting up the stairs because of her cancer, she would still insist on coming over so she could sit in front of the fireplace. My mom passed away this May and I will be forever grateful towards Eric and his crew for giving her something to look forward to on her visits and for such a memorable Christmas. I highly recommend them and actually plan to have them back this summer to work on more.

Eric and his workers did a great job tiling our 1905-era bathroom and building the new shower. Once they started the job, they showed up at the scheduled time each day until it was finished. Workers generally cleaned up after themselves and were very willing to redo parts of the tiling that didn't look quite right.

Eric's attitude was very good throughout the process. Since Eric is new to the area, we did run across a couple of snags which delayed the process. Eric was unaware of the requirements and time delays required for a building permit Douglas County as it related to decks. Although he had initially indicated that he would be able to meet our timeline, he failed to take into account the time it took to have the permits reviewed. Once the permits were approved, Eric and his team were quick to start work on the deck and progressed quickly with building the stairs. On the last day of work, I had to remind him about the gate he had said that he would build at the top of the deck stairs. Eric informed us that he wouldn't be able to return for two weeks due to scheduling conflicts to complete the work as promised. Within a couple of days of the initial completion, a couple of the spindles came off the railing. Eric was responsive and replaced the spindles at the same time that he finished the gate. As a side note, the gate was found to be hung crooked and was knocking against the railing of the deck. We did not contact Eric to fix, instead chose to fix it ourself. Overall, Eric's work was satisfactory. He was easy to work with and responsive--and he charged a fair rate for his work.
