We were replacing a dining room chandelier and a ceiling fan with a light in the master bedroom. The installations went very well. The young man was great - friendly and professional. He was done in less than two hours. I will use that company again.

Angel Becerra came right on time despite getting snow the night before and the schools being closed. He put on foot covers so as to not track anything into our home. He connected a new 15 amp line to our electrical panel and tested it to be sure it worked. He was thorough, courteous, and professional. He made sure we were completely satisfied before leaving.

When I called to make the appointment about an outlet out on the deck that had no power I asked if there was a service call fee, and the lady replied yes, a $29 fee which I was okay with. When the technician arrived I took him out on the deck and showed him the outlet I was talking about. He told me that there would be a $110 diagnostic fee on top of the $29 service call. This is before he even started any work. I let him know that I was not happy. It turns out that the GFI had tripped. The technician discovered that the outlet receptacle was also cracked and replaced it at no charge. The total cost was $140. This is nothing short of a SCAM! I will never use this company's services again.

We were able to schedule a time (a feat for scheduling electricians). My husband had contacted Chris multiple times re: questions for a switch or switches and set up for heaters in garage, however response was very slow. Nice guys, however I don’t think they knew what they were doing. They were suppose to run all the wiring first day out as as I had a flooring tile guy scheduled. They ran the wires for the heaters, hung the heaters and installed the subpanel. I was told they did the floor wiring. I was in contact with Chris re: questions my floor guy had about where the plan was for the thermastats to be placed and was told to the right of the window for the downstairs floor and above the laundry chute for the upstairs floor. Problem is there is no right of the window, it’s in the corner. Needless to say, when the guys came back out to do this, they told me there was not any wiring run yet for the floors. Took another day and put my tile guy behind. Issues with running the wires as multiple holes cut in various places. Needless to say I didn’t have them come back to install the thermstats. What I did find out from new electricians when they came out to finish for AES was the following: subpanel and wiring run correctly, but bad breaker installed which kept tripping other stuff ( luck of the draw). Heaters were installed IMPROPERLY. New electrician noted the ceiling sagging under all three heaters. Heaters had been hung with anchors only intended to hold 6lbs (heaters are 33 lbs) and not to be used on the ceiling. These were installed directly into dry wall only, not installed on studs or supports of any type. We lucked out they did not fall on us or our cars, especially if they were on. Which brings me to another issue. When AES installed the light bulbs, they touched them with their fingers so when we turned them on, they worked initially, but burned out due to the oil from their fingers being on the bulb. I thought my new electrician had messed up the subpanel, but he looked at the bulbs and said these can’t be touched. So we ordered new bulbs to a tune of $800. The new electrician put in a contact box so we could have an on/off switch in the garage and not have to run down and turn the breaker on and off (which was suppose have been done and was discussed at length with Chris) and cleaned up the wire run. So I have paid for work that was done incorrectly, paid for more work to correct the original work and paid to replace the bulbs. Not to mention AES did not clean up. I’m aware there’s going to be mess, but the new electricians made AES look worse and I didn’t say a lot about AES other than asking the new guys to check things. This is the nightmare story everyone wants to avoid. Nice guys, but I’d rather you tell me you don’t know how to do it, rather than do something like this. I have waited to post this review as I needed to take time to let things cool down. I’m thinking if you just have something simple, these guys may be ok. I picked them as they had really good reviews. I ended up not even having them finish the job or come back to fix it. I did not want them back in my home as I couldn’t garantee it would be done right. Who knew I’d have to know everything about electrical so I could tell if it was right. Today may be the day that I get every thing finished; we started in August. New bulbs to be installed and the last of the holes to be fixed in the garage. The estimated cost below is the original cost of the project. It doesn’t include the cost for the new electrician or new bulbs. Good luck if you use AES!
Response from Advanced Electrical Services
"[Member Name Removed], I reviewed our notes from the job and talked to Chris on the details. There is things that I will completely disagree on with this review. We did the job in August and never heard anything after that. i completely apologize that you did not have a perfect experience but the details are not correct. We did hang the heaters with 3/8 toggle bolts that were supplied in the heaters per manufacturer's recommendations. I think they could have been mounted better but we did not do 6lb anchors like said. They were supplied by manufacturer of heater so we followed the specs provided. The bulbs inside the heaters came in plastic and were installed using the plastic. I am unsure how that turned into a 800 dollar bill but again we used the methods as recommended by manufacturer. As far as the scheduling conflicts, I know we had to come back a few times and now that it can be frustrating. When you have multiple sub contractors all lined up on a tight time frame then it will domino if one set back occurs. With the amount of work being done setbacks can occur. I have been in business for 15 years and take pride in doing the best possible work for customers. Sometimes we fall short but we strive for excellent customer communication and service. This review does not reflect that and sounds more like another electrician that came in after the fact and bad mouthed our work. It is easy to say how another electrician would have done things different when they were not in the same situation. I am sorry for the bad experience but still hold firm that we did not sabotage this job or intentionally do bad work. We do not run a company like that. Thanks Tobias Sommer"

good, polite service man, up front about what could and could not be accomplished this visit and indicated an estimate for a follow up would cost once we had found our replacement fixtures. That estimate was received in about a week.

Took 3 trips to get it working.
Response from Advanced Electrical Services
"[Member Name Removed], I first apologize that my technicians did not explain things well enough. If they did explain better you would understand that the lights you have had multiple issues. I want to go over the notes from the job to explain the timeline. 7-19 We took call and booked appointment. 7-20 The first trip was to diagnose the problem. We found the fixture needed a ballast that we replaced the ballast on the fixture and got voltage output from the ballast but the bulb was bad. You said you would get a new bulb and all was good. 7-21 You called and said that the bulb broke trying to install it and light did not work. 7-24 2nd trip We looked at light and now both the ballast and socket was not working and needed replaced. We ordered parts to complete. 8-1 3rd trip replaced parts and got light working. So I understand you frustration but not sure how we could have done in one trip or any less trips since this was multiple issues all together. It is possible to have 2 issues that are not associated. Example bad battery and bad motor. You have to fix one to find the second problem. Now I sympathize that you had a problem that you were not expecting to have to pay for but do we deserve C and D grades because you had to spend money or because we actually did a bad job. We had a B on professionalism which means we did our job professional. I think we don't deserve a C overall and this was an emotional response to spending money you didn't want to spend. I hope you understand this timeline better. Thanks Tobias Sommer"

On the phone they told me that the call would be $95. When the guy got here he said it was $115.
Response from Advanced Electrical Services
"[Member Name Removed], I am sorry if you misunderstood me on the phone. We never quote over the phone because many things can change once we arrive. We first must diagnose the problem and then we give you a price to perform the work. If you did not want us to perform the work at that time, you could have opted not to perform work. We do our best to explain that before we start work so there is no surprises. Our tag line is "Fixed Right Every time, Fast with No Surprises". I extremely apologize for any misunderstanding but understand that phone quotes are impossible. We only give you a ballpark on phone and say that we will give you price before we start to let a technician time to properly diagnose a problem. Thanks Tobias Sommer Owner"

The electrician was very professional. He came in assessed the problem and gave me an estimate. He was here when the plumber came and the two discussed what needed to be done. Because of this, we did not need one of the parts he thought I needed, and my final bill was $50 less than the amount quoted.

Was told when I called that the next appointment time available was a week out. Since I was in town helping my mother, I asked to be put on the will-call list if they had a cancellation. I was delighted when a technician called me that same day and was able to fit me in. One of the televisions in the house would randomly turn on and off. We had replaced the television, then called the cable company who assured us it was not their equipment. They said it had to be an electrical issue. Jaime, with Advanced Electric Service, checked the outlet, which was working fine. He then went to the fuse box and tested to make sure we were not having any spikes, which we were not. He said it may be the outlet going bad, even though it tested okay. He did not say that it needed replaced, but for my own peace of my mind, I had him replace it. When we turned the television back on it almost immediately went off. Fortunately, he was watching and noticed that the television did not actually go off, but the cable box did causing the screen to go black. Thus pointing us back to the cable box being the issue. Even though it was ultimately not an electrical issue, he was very helpful with determining the root cause and did thorough electrical testing. Even during the visit he had consulted with his supervisor to see if they had experienced anything like this before. I would gladly call them back for any future electrical needs.

"[Member Name Removed], I am sorry you had a problem but you are not in our records at all for ever having service done. I have looked for any dispatch information by name or address and neither came up so I think you may have had someone else come out and not us. Please check the company name on the invoice or give us the information with invoice number so we can look up and get things straightened out if we did do something wrong. I think you may have given us this review by mistake. Sorry again you experienced a bad service but it was not by us at this address or name. Tobias Sommer"

Called at 8:30 AM with problem. They could not promise a visit today, but said they'd put us on stand-by and work us in if time became available, otherwise would come tomorrow afternoon. They called later the same morning and had time to come out. Quickly diagnosed the problem and had it fixed before noon. Also fixed the doorbell which hadn't been working well.
