We dropped Henry off at Westfield Small Animal Clinic and was told to pick him up in the morning. When I arrived the next day to pick him up, part of his intestine was hanging out of his incision. When I asked the vet tech about it she rushed him off and told me to come back later.

When I came back later and asked Dr. Kelly about it. He denied what I saw and said Henry was fine and that all went well. Henry was clearly in pain. We took him home and put him in his cage to recover.

Henry didn't want to eat or drink the rest of the day. The next morning, Henry was dead. I called Dr. Kelly, he wasn't the least bit apologetic or sensitive. He told me these things happen. And acted like I was wasting his time.

I took Henry to a different vet for a necropsy (an animal autopsy). They wouldn't give me a definitive cause of death. All they would tell me is he had cancer and would have died with in the year. It kind of felt like one vet covering for another but I couldn't prove it. BUT they did say Henry was way too old for surgery and that Dr. Kelly should never should have touched him.

I will never take an animal back to Westfield Small Animal Clinic and I have told all my friends the same. I felt the least Dr. Kelly could've done was say he was sorry for my daughters loss. He didn't even seem to care that one of his patients died.

My dog has received three treatments each a week apart. Each time there was a different response, the first time was better than expected, the second was not so good, I went into the clinic to see if he should be seen, and because this was an unusual response we decided to wait (this was a Saturday morning). On Monday morning, first thing, Kira called to see how he was doing and we decided to give it time, which was the correct choice and by the next treatment he was better, Now he is doing quite well. I have used this veterinary clinic since 1993. This was originally Dr Craig Kelly's business and other vets have come and gone, but I really like the group they have now and the services they offer. In the past, I was told by a minister friend whose husband and son were/are vets in a different town, that Dr Kelly has long been the vets go to vet. What I like best is that they include me in the decisions of what route to take for my pets, I wish more people doctors would be like that.
