Spohr's Landscaping Inc
About us
When a request from a business owner or homeowner, David Spohr inspects the property for the type of water issue that they are experiencing. David will then prepare an estimate of costs for the project to be completed to correct the water issue. The business owner or homeowner then accepts or declines the offer/estimate. If accepted, David schedules the project. Upon completion, the invoice for the costs involved is sent to the business owner or homeowner for payment. Additional email - [email protected]

"[Member Name Removed], Thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed review of the work we did for you. You have been absolutely wonderful to work for and I am thankful you chose as us as the company to step in and provide a solution for the water problems you were previously experiencing. We strive to make our customers happy and to give our 100% in every area. I take the comments that you, and others leave, very seriously and do not take them for granted. Thank you again for being so pleasant to work with and for being kind to me and others through out the entire process. It is people like you that make this job worth it!! Sincerely, Brittany Cooklin Dave Spohr's Administrative Assistant"
The work was to be completed by the end of October, about six weeks start to finish. Adding on say, two weeks for the additional excavation and foundation, mid-November. Sod was laid the first week of December, with the sprinkler system finishing in the third week of December.
Areas for improvement: clarity of the initial bid; clarity of cost adders as decisions were made along the way; self-managing of schedule rather than over-promising on multiple jobs; conveying Dave's sense of excellence and attention to detail to his employees; and meeting his own schedule promises. One of the subcontractors seemed much more responsive to Dave than to us, as far as getting his portion started. Some definite gaps between Dave's expertise and attention to detail compared to a few of his employees, which included leaving the grade of the "sunken patio" area outside the egress windows incorrectly directing water toward the basement, and in rough rather than raked condition. One employee plumbed the outside sump pump drain in a totally unacceptable way aesthetically, which Dave corrected.
Areas of strength: assessment of needed work with robust solutions proposed, contacts with capable subcontractors, mostly excellent employees, Dave is a wizard with a Bobcat; and listened well to our perspectives, concerns, and questions. I appreciate his willingness to bill in accordance with work done as well as the target budget--the bill could have been higher! We much appreciated his pro-active looking at the overall property multiple times along the way, and offering his suggestions as possibilities.
Prior to our relocation to Lincoln from NW Wyoming, we used contractors very sparingly, as I did most of the work myself. With our new house and my new job, plus some debilitating knee problems, we used a lot of contractors between moving in August and the end of the year. I think we could have done a better job of insisting on clarity and deadline-meeting, but we are not highly confrontive people. Overall we expected it would be quality work, and expensive, and that would be better than poor work and expensive. Both expectations were correct.
