The whole process went very well. Thanks to Angie's List I identified two contractors who were interested in submitting bids. Thiese were North Star Construction LLC (NS) and Greg Carlson Contracting. I chose NS. Once selected, NS and I submitted bid to lender because of using HUD Section 203(k) funding. Lender approved NS. We immiediately submitted changes to the original bid which had been approved at closing. This went fine. NS was willing to help with this.Once lender approved requested changes, I chose cabinet design, counter tops, wood flooring, appliances, and paint colors. The work commenced late November. Its nearly done as of this date 1/2/15. NS has been easy to work with. The projects are nearly done.

We didn't know if we would need a whole new stairwell or just redo part of the stairwell. When Jeff came to make an estimate he told us he could work with the exhisting wood and that he would only need to reinforce the supports. This was music to our ears, because this saved us a lot of money. He was fast, neat, and the stairs are good as new. We will definitely will work with him again.

I have always been DIY all the way but being totally ignorant of what it took to install a floor I am now confident in what is needed to get the job done correctly. My wife and I were very pleased with the company's performance. As well as the carpenter's self motivation to git r done.
