I needed a water heater replaced and Mike did a great job. He was professional and cleaned up well after the job was done. I am recommending him to my family and friends. Do not hesitate to call him for any plumbing need you might have! His high ratings are well deserved!

He was very professional and was even able to fit me in the same day I called. He was clear about what time he would arrive and arrived at that time. My new garbage disposal is working great and he fixed the leak that I had as well. Everything looks great. Mike was great to work with and I will definitely use his services again in the future.

Great. Mike is punctual, professional, and cares about the quality of his work. I appreciated that he sought out assistance from a former employer when he wasn't quite sure about the cause of my shower problems.

Not customer oriented. He wanted to install fixtures that he wanted, not what we wanted. Left an open sewer line with a rag stuck in it. Was constantly on his cell phone while working. Hardly ever arrived at stated time. Each time he did not show as stated he would, would give the excuse that someone had an urgent need. We weren't sure if he was working for us or someone else.
Response from Mike Standley's Plumbing
"I remodeled (member name) upstairs bathroom for him to be handicap accessible. The fixtures used (high in quality from my supply house) were what I picked out and they agreed upon, except for the tub filler which (member name) bought at Home Depot because of personal shower port was on the side of the filler and that is what he was use to. I am surprised by the comments he put up do to the fact that I have been back since then to do the plumbing on (member name) kitchen remodel to make it also handicap accessible. I have also been back to put in a gas line to his grill. I do admit that I get a lot of phone calls from time to time. I am a one person business so have to take my own phone calls. Being on my own with no employees allows me to have lower prices due to a lower overhead. Plus I know the job is getting done right because it is myself doing the work. I do from time to time have to juggle my schedule, but I never miss a completion date that is set. To (member name) I am sorry you felt that way during the bathroom remodel. Just a little confused by the complaint since I have been back twice since the completion of the bathroom."

Why did I pick Mike, his estimate was $300.00 lower then a previous bid, but that bid also contained other things as well. He seemed like an up starter when we first met him. The day he arrived for first day of work, he told us the water for the entire house (except toilet and shower) would be turned off for 24 hours. He advised us to get some pails of water outside because he knew we were painting extensively inside and our brushes would need to be cleaned. Tuesday came, and he didn't arrive, I called, he said he had other things committed he would be there Wednesday. Who does that, shuts water off says it will be 24 hours, and then its 48! Wednesday he did show up, but when we complained, he merely said - well I gave you a and quot;toilet and showerand quot;! Wednesday he is a and quot;man and his truckand quot; no assistance from other staff. He worked downstairs, us up. When he left we also left for dinner. We came back and noticed that all the galvanized pipes were by piled near the trash bins outside. My first concern since there was no mention of disposal that the placement inferred that it was going to be our responsibility. We are from out of state, and we were trying to ready this house for a renter/sale. No upfront discussion of disposal was ever discussed. We had no garbage company.
There was a death in my family thus our need to be in Lincoln to get things fixed. This was a stressful time, this was not my house but my brothers and we were doing the work for my sister in law. I needed to do as much as we could in a logical time frame. When checking out the work in the basement we saw that all the copper pipes that we were TOLD did not have to be replaced were replaced with PEX. There were no copper pipes left in the house nor on the stack of galvanized pipes outside. I called him and was unhappy that the copper was removed, and questioned the positioning of galvanized pipes for disposal. I wasn't happy when I talked with him, but I also was not yelling at him as he told my daughter I was in a later discussion with him. We were in a very loud restaurant when this conversation took place.
He came to put the utility sink in, (basement) but he needed to remove the very heavy cast iron sink. His first response was to break it in half. The resale value of these are 245.00, they are much sought after. If I had not been there to say do not destroy, this could of easily happen. He never ever asked how we wanted to handle the sink situation with removal from the wall. He had to ask my husband with help with getting this off the wall and carrying to another part of the basement. (No planning ahead on how he would of gotten this out with out additional help) He had issues with the pipe in bathroom upstairs, and was going to make a hole in the plaster wall (1922 house) in the bedroom upstairs that the sink backs up to, and then it would our job to get the hole fixed. In the basement he tore up the back uppper cabinet of a kitchen cabinet that sat approximately where he could reach the pipes. The space was too small for him to get in. With my husbands suggestion and HELP, my husband removed the ceiling tile in the adjacent bedroom downstairs to secure a more less intrusive way of entrance for the pipes he needed. He was able to get to the pipes he needed to. He never thought of that he said, it was a good idea. Less then resourceful is what we thought, and suggesting a hole in the upstairs bedroom wall, just not good thinking at all. He was untidy. He did not clean up after himself. He did remove the galvanized pipes outside so that his friend could pick it up for salvage. He was the only contractor and there were several that did not clean up after installation.
He wanted full payment before the dishwasher and refrigerator were installed. They were to be delivered in 1 day. We had a disagreement about this, which at one point two other contractors that were in the house advised me NOT to pay him his full price, but hold back $200.00 for completion. I told Mike I was holding back $200.00 he was not happy. He did come when the
appliances arrived and installed them, and I completed my last payment.
Mike was grumpy when doing his work, if you asked him a question and there were very few he obviously was annoyed. He had some personal issues going on and I took that into account, but so did we. I asked where my copper pipes were, he said you can't put PEX and copper together. He was grumpy enough that when my daughter asked him politely for understanding he was angry and said - ok, let me draw you a picture. Copper is expensive, if he replaced it, he should of left it. His intentions when he did the bid was that it could stay. Then surprise he removed it, and took it.
Mikes previous reviews which noted some small installations, his grade was high. Our project noted to date on Angies will be the highest cost. Installing a dishwasher, water heater or fixing a refrigerator for ice water are not big undertakings. This was several days commitment, vs an hour or so. thats just one difference.

Response from Mike Standley's Plumbing
"This Customer I did work for was from out of State (Washington I believe). She was trying to get her brothers house in selling condition. They called me to bid the job so they knew my price before they asked me to do the work. From what I know I was $300 less than anyone else that bid on the job. They house was older so it had galvanized water lines which was keeping fixtures from have good water pressure. I removed the old lines and re piped the house in pex piping. This was one of the harder environments I worked in due to the customers micro managing of the job. I stayed very polite and did all my said work that I bid. During the re piping they asked if I could put in a new kitchen sink and dishwasher which I agreed to do. At the end of the two day job I had completed the re piping and had set the new sink but the dishwasher they had purchased was not there. So now that I was done with 98% of the job, and had less than an hour of work to hook up the dishwasher I asked to get paid. That is the only reason this complaint is here. I knew they were from another state. I had done the bid portion of the job and put in the new kitchen sink. So I asked to be paid in full. They said they didn't want to pay anything until the dishwasher was in. I disagreed with that letting them know all but an hour of the job was done and if the dishwasher was there I would be 100% complete. I ask them to see it from my point of view. Them being from out of state, and them wanting to leave in the next couple of days scared me a little, and that I would like paid. She asked me to have faith and trust that they would pay. I asked her to do the same. We agreed to leave $200 off first payment as a good faith that I would be back to set dishwasher. Which I felt was more than fair. The next day I returned set the dishwasher and received the $200 retainer. To all clients looking for a good plumber look at all my previous reviews. Straight A's across the board."

I called Mike and he gave me a fair estimate to replace a water heater. He was able to get to it the following afternoon Mike was on time, polite and professional. The water heater that was ordered and installed ended up have a leak from a loose plug that should have been tightened at the factory so Mike had to order another water heater which he installed in about 45 minutes. This all happened yesterday but so far so good. I was very pleased with Mike's work and will call upon him for future plumbing needs.

I couldn't be more please with Mike. He was extremely aggressive on price, and had everything done very efficiently. I would recommend to give Mike a call before anyone else. Our bathroom is perfect!

Mike Standley came on the date we agreed upon, provided an estimate and then returned to do the work as promised. They took the old unit out, replaced the new one, and cleaned everything up as if they hadn't even been there.

It went very well. My garbage disposal was leaking so Mike squeezed me in even though his schedule was booked until the following week.

It went well overall. He seemed to be in a hurry to get to other appointments. He splattered some solder around the heater on some of my things and outside. The kids thought it was poisonous mercury and freaked out for awhile. He did get the job done and answered all my questions.
I asked him back about my other properties water heater and he told me that it did not need to be replaced at this time though it was old. He explained that my tenant was adjusting the settings and that caused the problem. He charged my $65 for coming out. I will likely call him again, when I need it replaced or for other plumbing issues.

Mike helped us identify a system that would work well for our needs. He made the purchase, delivered it to our house and installed the unit. He responded quickly to our initial request for information and an estimate. Mike is professional, helpful and knowledgeable. He was responsive to and helpful with our questions after the installation. He went the extra mile for us throughout this process and we would not hesitate to call him again when a need arises.

Mike was on time, professional, and did a great job. He was completely honest as well. He didn't charge for one visit, because he felt he didn't do enough for me to warrant a charge.Very refreshing to see someone that does business like Mike. We're going to use him for all of our plumbing needs moving forward.

He was very friendly and very efficient. He figured out what the problem was and is going to have to come back to fix it because it turned out to be something bigger than he anticipated initially, which is fine. I liked him very much. I don't know about the price because I will pay him when he is finished. He was very professional and I am very happy.

We noticed dripping from our old, rusting water heater. I called six plumbing companies for estimates. Five companies returned my request. Mike's price was the cheapest (the others were $24, $60, $155, and $165 more expensive). Once I made my decision, I called Mike back, and he came the next morning. He did prompt, quality work, and he was great about answering my questions. We have had the water heater for almost four months, and we've been very happy with it. I have used two other plumbing companies in Lincoln before. I was satisfied with their work, but they seemed expensive so I kept looking. Mike's number is now in my cell phone contacts, and I'll be calling him for any future plumbing work. He even referred me to a great HVAC person when our furnace wouldn't stay on.

I did a significant amount of work myself and Mike was willing to work around my slow moving schedule. He was professional, prompt and fairly priced.
