Overall, it went well. We are very excited about the newly renovated space and love that we were able to preserve the charm of old house while still adding some modern conveniences. Our biggest hangup seemed to be with opening up a wall or floor and finding additional areas that needed attention (i.e. rotted floor joists, poor electrical wires and cracked plumbing). Unfortunately, the 'surprises' set the project back several weeks. That couldn't be helped and certainly wasn't Brian's fault. They addressed the issues without batting an eye and fixed everything before they sealed it up. We also loved Brian's willingness to listen to our 'vision' and run with it. He and his crew each have over 20 years of experience building and renovating homes. We ended up paying $22,500 for the time and talents of Brian and his crew. We paid and additional $26,100 in materials and supplies for a total project cost of $48,600.
Description of Work: We bought an old craftsman house built in 1920 near east campus for our kids to live in while attending college. It was in pretty bad shape and in desperate need of alot of structural and cosmetic repairs. Brian and his crew came in and made it a beautiful home again. Here's the low-down on what they did: - Replaced the front porch and widened the steps - Replaced 5 windows - Opened up a foyer closet to make a walk-through to the kitchen - Leveled the floors by tearing out the brick chimney, replacing rotted joists and adding an extra beam as needed. - Installed new bamboo flooring throughout - Remodeled kitchen and existing 2nd floor bathroom - Added additional bathroom and utility area off kitchen - Filled cracks and resurfaced the walls in a a few other rooms to make the walls straight - Coordinated closely with Roberson Heating & Air to install a new furnace, air conditioner, and 2nd floor ductwork - Coordinated closely Ruda Electric on re-wiring panel and adding new wiring to kitchen and new utility/bathroom area
