JUDSON IRRIGATION

I needed a new control station for my Rainbird sprinkler system. I had seen Judson Irrigation vehicles around so figured they were a satisfactory firm so arranged for them to come out. On 7/9/21 they came out and checked my sprinklers out and replaced one head. They also replaced my indoor Rainbird control for 6 stations with a combo indoor/outdoor board when I only needed an indoor controller. I received a bill from them for $177 for labor (not broken down on the bill). Inn calling them this included a $58 service call; a charge of $87 for ¾ of an hour billed at a rate of $116 per hour for the main service person; and $32 for the second person billed for a half hour at $64 an hour. The $116 an hour figures out to $4,640 gross for a week. We all wish we had wages like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bill showed $332.92 for materials before tax which per their office included $252.89 for the controller; $76.58 for a module; and $3.45 for a new sprinkler head. Based on limited research, likely a cheaper source of parts is available. Likely if one is going to replace a Rainbird Sprinkler control station, one should get bids to do the project. I would not recommend Judson Irrigation for sprinkler work particularly based on their high labor charges!!!.

Outrages labor charges for the 2 hours of time spent at our home. If using Judson Irrigation you should ask how they intend to perform the service, how many techs are going to be present & the labor breakdown. We paid for two technicians that didn't introduce themselves (though one had a Judson Irrigation ballcap)- and one of them didn't appear to do much of anything. While discussing an option we wanted for a corner sprinkler head the boy with the hat REPEATEDLY warned me about overwatering either our garden or the lawn if using the corner sprinkler head as we wanted. We were not paying for smug advice on gardening or lawn care and his warnings happened so many times he probably was able to charge for an extra 10 or 15 minutes of labor. If they wanted to give advice they could have informed us that two rotors did not rotate and that one pop-up didn't pop up and what might they recommend. As it is we found out those sprinkler heads didn't work after they left and so we doubt that they even checked the system after the work was completed. Also, it would have been nice to be told when they left what work was done and how the payment would be handled- they just left. A letter was sent to the manager of Judson Irrigation but as of this time we've heard no response.

Problem was quickly analyzed and repaired. The did a great job.

I was very impressed. The owner of the company is the one who came out and designed the sprinkler system for us when we installed it. He was just super responsive. He came out during the installation to be sure that things were fine and that we were happy with what was going on. Starting with the owner down to the owner down to the people that work for the company. I don't notice that they have a lot of turnover in their employees, the same guy has been coming out every year to start our sprinkler system and turn it off in the winter. So, that says a lot to me about the company when they can retain people.

My favorite is they stand behind their product. Things have not broken, other than when we broke it, They sell quality materials, so there are no issues with having to come out and repair things later.

They did the spring and fall sprinkler servicing and making sure it's working. They couldn't do better. I have not come across any issues with this company.

They've been out every year doing the spring and fall thing since we had the irrigation system put in and that was in 2011. They stand behind their product. They clean up after themselves. They stand by their product. They keep their word. I just can't say enough nice things about them.

They came out, and they determine where we needed the sprinkler heads installed for adequate coverage for the lawn and plants. They did all of the digging. They sunk all the lines and the sprinkler heads. They tested it and made sure everything was right. So, they had to use the control panel that they put in the garage. They did some excavates. They had to put the water lines in. It is wonderful, except for the time that we broke a sprinkler head and then, we had John Henry's come out and do that sewer work, one of the sprinkler heads got broken. Other than that it works perfectly.

In the spring they turn on all the sprinkler heads, make sure that everyone is working correctly, not leaking if they are they replace them. In the fall they come and shut everything down.I continue to use them because of their responsiveness. What stands out to me is just the fact they show up when they say they are going to. They give me a call ahead of time to be sure that I know they're on the way.

I can't remember what my contract is. It's usually about $250 for the annual contract. At the end of the year, they just come out, and they turn off all the sprinklers and they force the water out, so they don't freeze sitting out there over the winter and just make sure that everything is shut down and good to go. I really appreciate their responsiveness. I called yesterday morning and they came out today and got my sprinkler system back together and working again. I would say their responsiveness is just amazing.

We had a new shed put in, and we needed to move some of the sprinkler heads in the line. So, they came out last Thursday and checked things off for us and terminated the lines, so we wouldn't have active irrigation lines under the new shed. Then, they came back today and put in the sprinkler heads and set everything up. They set the sprinkler heads, so they're sprinkling the yard properly and not hitting the new shed. They billed me for both days at one time. I have a yearly contract with them to come out and turn on the sprinklers and weatherize the system. So, I'm super happy with their service.

The work was done well and I have to say I was very impressed with the technical aspect of the process; however, Judson’s service’s come at a price. When I placed my service call, the outline of the charges were not reviewed, nor did the technician review the charging process. I highly recommend getting that prior to making the appointment.

When I received my bill, I called asking what the billing process was. This is what I was told. Judson charges a trip charge of $44.00. Judson will send out two technicians unless the customer specifically requests for only one technician. The logic is that the overall time needed will be less with two technicians. The primary technician’s billable rate is 141.00 per hour. The secondary technician’s billable rate is 47.00 per hour. Parts are charged at their cost, plus tax on parts provided.

At least in my case, the trip charge appears to have been waived; a total of 2.05 hours charged appears to have been charged at combined rate of 141.00 per hour for the two technicians. I say that because the bill only has one line for “labor” with no breakdown.

Lastly, the technicians, at least in my case, did not provide a time stamp of when the bill started and when it stopped. Judson will start the clock when they arrive on site, and when the complete the billing on their tablet in their vehicle when the job is completed.

The job was fine. The service and professionalism were fine. Overall, I'll give them a B+.

When I called, I told them the problem and not to come between 3:00 and 3:30 because I would be getting kids from school. The next day when I showed up from getting kids, there he sat at 3:20. He showed me a switch that needed flipped on my control panel and showed me how to change the setting. He talked to me for 10 minutes and said he would see if the office would just and quot;write this offand quot; because he didn't do anything or take very long. I thought and quot;this is great!and quot; A month later when I received the bill it stated and quot;checked the sprinkler system and adjusted headsand quot; and they charged me for an hour's worth of work ($108.50). I called the next day (October 2, 2012) and talked to the lady in the office regarding my complaint, she told me they would call back. I never received a call, so I thought we were good. I got my second notice January 2, 2013. I called to talk to Judson, he said he would call me back. January 9, 2013 I received a letter from the collection agency. When I finally talked to Judson January 10th, he said the tech wrote he was at my house at 3:02 that day and didn't leave until 3:33. So I had to pay for him to sit and wait for me to get home. I was very upset! He said that I ran over the 30 minute mark so I had to pay for the hourly rate. I talked to him about the collection agency and he said he didn't know where the communication was dropped in the office. If I would have known 10 minutes worth of and quot;talkingand quot; to the man would cost so much, I would have called someone else. And, he didn't adjust any sprinkler heads.

The main problem is that they charged me a $41 trip charge that I was never notified about ahead of time. Talking with the technician and the work involved it took maybe 25 minutes. They charged me a whole hour at about $90/hour at about 25 minutes of work that I would consider billable. I called and they said they charge you from the time the technician shows up at the house in addition to the time it takes them to load up the vehicle afterwards and write up the ticket. $90/hour in Lincoln, NE seems the highest I have been seen. Not to mention, most companies come give you a free consultation before they start billing you. This is the only company that I've dealt with that has a trip charge. The call this morning is the 3rd attempt to resolve this billing dispute. The owner of the company said either pay the bill by Monday or he is turning it over to collections.

Overall, a great experience. I would recommend Jason and Judson to everyone I know.

I had my lawn aerated and noticed that I had a leak on one of my sprinkler heads. I hadn't done a very good job of winterizing my system, therefore, thought I should find a company that would check it out and replace any broken sprinkler heads that I had. The folks arrived when they said they would and discoved my leak was only due to a sprinkler head coming off the tubing. They checked all sprinkler heads and ended up replacing eight of them. They cleared the debris around each head and made sure my system was functioning well for the season. I appreciated their responsiveness and attention to detail. I'm a firm believer in the saying, and quot;You get what you pay forand quot; and while this organization may not have been the cheapest, the quatlity of work they performed and their attention to detail will get me to use them whenever I need someone to help me with my sprinkler system.
