Very good job on our piano and then helped me check out another baby grand I'd found

Gary was a little late a because he had a hard time finding our home, and was very apologetic. He got down to business and tuned our piano with no fuss. He noticed that our keyboard will need adjustment and recommended someone who could do it well. We are planning to call him back shortly because our piano needs retuning.

Based on the reviews on Angie's list, I called him 3 times to tune my piano. No call back. Finally, after 6 weeks of no reply, he finally called me back and informed me he has moved to Nebraska. So - he may do fine work, but is no longer in the area.

He was great, his price was reasonable and he came promptly. He was a very pleasant man.

Gary probably stayed for almost 2.5 hours, painstakingly going over every note, fiddling with his instruments and then going back over a couple more times (obviously starting out with middle and quot;Aand quot; for tuning. He was extremely gregarious and friendly, we talked the entire time he was working and he also was teaching me in between what he was doing. He did a great job and he obviously knows his stuff. Tuning a piano is now getting to be a lost art form since there's so many digital instruments out there. So it's rare to find someone who actually can do that with just a couple tools and know what to look for and know how to tweak each note because each one is different and responds differently (physically) when vibrated. Would def recommend him and ask him to help me out again in couple months when my piano needs another tuning!

Gary has come to our house twice to tune our piano. The first time was in September 2012. At that time, the piano, which had sat at my mom's house unused, hadn't been tuned in more than 30 years. Gary took this into consideration as he tuned it the first time. Because the piano was so out of tune, he suggested a second tuning six months after the first one, which we gladly did. Gary did a wonderful job because the piano held its tune very well in the months between tunings and he only had to tweak it a bit more the second time. I gave him careful directions to our house and he arrived promptly both times he's visited. The second time he came, he came out the same day I called because he had an opening. He does a thorough job, and tunes without electronic equipment. He's very careful when opening up the piano and putting it back together. This is important to us because our piano is old (built 1937) and has a lot of ornate woodwork. Gary's prices are very reasonable, and he is pleasant to work with. We will happily continue to have him keep our piano in tune and recommend him to others.

It was a great experience. It took awhile for us to connect on the phone, but once we connected everything was great. I guess his phone number listed is his home number. I called on a Sunday evening just to leave him a voicemail for the following week, and he answered and we set the appointment right there (I hate to bother folks on during their and quot;homeand quot; time--but he was very good about it). He came over, offered to wear and quot;bootiesand quot; over his shoes to keep the carpets clean, spread out a cloth on which he worked, and generally was respectful of my home. Because my piano is complicated and had a repair issue, it took him a longer amount of time (an hour extra?) than if he had just done a regular tuning. He was very thorough and very thoughtful. He examined everything carefully and even started removing some pieces for better access to the damaged section. I was impressed when he said he wasn't going to try moving part of it by himself--I would rather have a lesser examination than a damaged piano! He did a great job tuning it, put all the parts back together perfectly, and it sounds great! He's going to have a broken wire sent away for replacement, so I'll be seeing him again for a return visit. He refused to charge me for the extra hour or so of his time he spent investigating the repair, so I tossed in a generous tip to cover his extra hour+ of labor (I think he charged me about $60, and I gave him $100). I felt he was honest and trustworthy.

In addition to being a skilled tradesman, Gary was a pleasure to have in our homes. He seemed to enjoy explaining what he was doing and why. He actually took one piano apart to clean in addition to tuning. After completing his work, he played the instruments which was a real treat in itself. We paid Gary more than the $65.00 per piano that he requested because we were so pleased with his work. We will definitely use him again.

From the reviews on Angie's list, it looks like Gary is THE piano tuner. We live out in St. Charles. So, I was hoping he'd be able to make it out here. No problem. He simply called when he was in the area. This is the first time we've had our piano tuned. It was a piano we acquired as part of a real-estate transaction. So, we didn't know much about the history of the piano. In any case, our experience was pretty much like everyone else's. Gary is very personable. He has so much knowledge about pianos. He was able to tell us many facts about out piano. In fact, the whole experience was so pleasant, I look forward to the next time the piano needs to be tuned.

We called him to come out. He had a hard time finding our house so I would suggest to be careful and give clear and easy instructions - do not assume he is using any kind of digital location finder. But once he was here, he was careful to tune every key and took the time to make sure every one was exactly right.

I contracted Gary to tune an upright Yamaha piano that had not been tuned in 3 years. In that time it had also been moved twice to two different states enduring not only the moves but the changes in climate. I expected it to cost well above his quoted $65 rate. I was wrong. He worked quickly but effectively in a chaotic environment in which we had a 9 month old playing nearby and movers coming into the house to move a large piece of furniture. He was extremely personable and professional. At the end, he played some lullabies for my daughter and expressed delight at awakening her interest in the piano. I will absolutely hire him again and would recommend him to anyone needing piano tuning services.

Gary did an excellent job tuning the piano, and was a delight to talk to as well. He fit my piano into his schedule within just a couple of days of my request. As an experienced musician who dabbled in piano tuning myself, I can vouch for Gary. He knows what he is doing, and can make a piano sing and sound good in all keys. In other words, he sets a good scale. He works quickly, but don't mistake that for a and quot;don't careand quot; attitude.

I called Gary this morning to see if he could look at my piano. He was already out finishing a job, and he offered to stop by my house on his way home. He spent about a half hour (or more) with me, inspecting the piano and trying to gauge its quality. He also made a call to see if he could get more information about the piano's history. Gary is very knowledgeable, and he was willing to not charge me at all (even though he spent a good deal of time with me). We settled on $10 as a consultation fee, which was more than reasonable. He was courteous and respectful of my space, taking care not to damage walls or the piano while looking at it.

It went great !!!! Gary's a great guy, recieved a little history on the upright piano, which was pretty cool. Took all the necessarytime to do the job right. Every aspect of the tuning was great. Gary knows his business. Would hire him in a minute to tune my piano again.

Nothing short of phenomenal. He is far and away the best as far as I'm concerned. I was trained as a classical trumpet player and am so used to hearing the pitch of the horn...this piano is spot on!!! Would I recommend him....in a heartbeat or a New York minute.

Gary was available the same day I called him for service. He worked on the piano a few mins and told me he would do what he could to get it back in tune. It wasn't long before he told me it was too far gone and probably wouldn't hold a tune anymore. He spent about an hour trying to get it working and said he only wanted gas money since he wasn't able to save the piano. I happily paid him $30. He was very informative in regards to what to look for when I went to buy a used piano somewhere else. I really appreciated his candor and honesty.

We highly recommend him to anybody. His price was very reasonable. He is very professional and accommodating. We had an older piano which is in pretty good shape but hasn't been tuned for years and what he did was what we wanted. He got it in very good tune. His work was very neat and professional. He played the piano at the end to give an idea how it sounds and everything. He left the door open if we had any questions or concerns we could get in touch with him which we really didn't need to do.

I called Gary on the August 16 in the morning to make an appointment for him to come tune my piano. He had time that afternoon, so came then. He arrived promptly, pet my cat, chatted with me about my piano then got down to tuning. The piano hadn't been tuned for about 3 or 4 years, but Gary didn't find anything majorly wrong. It was just a bit out of tune. Piano sounded great when he was through, and I enjoyed listening to him play a few pieces. Gary was very pleasant to have around, and I am glad I found him here on Angie's list. He is much nicer and probably a better tuner than my former tuner who charged about twice what Gary charged me. I will definitely call him next year when it is time for a tuning again.

He arrived on time. He has 35 years of experience. He's very knowledgable and pleasant. He worked on our piano for an hour and 45 minutes. He was very thorough and did a good job.His price was veryn reasonable. I would highly recommend him and will use him again.

He did a perfect job. He was very punctual and very professional. I think he is a very qualified piano tuner who knows what he's doing. I had tuning done for six months. Now I don't have to do it for a year.

He assessed it first to determine whether it would be worth it, and if I wanted to stop there he would have only charged $10 for his gas. He made it sound great, was very pleasant and professional, and taught me a lot about my piano. I would highly recommend him.
