Carpentry & Home Repair

We attempted to obtain bids from two other local  providers and didn't even receive return phone calls from them.  After obtaining Terry's name from Angie's List, we telephoned Terry and he was in our home within the hour to give us an estimate.  The estimate was somewhat broad as it was not possible to determine how difficult it would be to remove the old wood flooring that had been glued to the cement slab in our kitchen-dining area. He gave us several flooring options and even assisted us at Lowe's to select appropriate material.
When it was time to start the work, Terry appeared promptly when he said he would.  He removed the old flooring, which was difficult, but worked very quickly and efficiently. The following day, he again appeared promptly and commenced installation of the new floating Pergo flooring.  He again worked quickly and was able to bring in an associate to handle a plumbing item when that became necessary.  He knows a variety of workmen in the area and has the ability to get things done.
Terry was truly professional in his manner and workmanship and we are thrilled with the results.  He was very fair in his pricing and the job came in considerably under estimate.  We would have no hesitation in referring him to friends and neighbors as he truly "delivers".  We have another project pending and he will definitely be our first contact when we are ready to proceed.  Thanks to Terry and to Angie's List for the recommendation! 

Terry was very helpful with this project.  I had never had such a large/complete project and he guided me along the way.  He brought in subs where needed and the project moved right along.   I will definitely use his services in the future.

We had a few lapses in communication at the beginning, but once we were able to get the job estimate and agreement he was very quick to finish the job.  He asked if we would like him to take care of finding someone to take the old fence, which was fine with us.  Appreciate that he recycles and doesn't just throw it in the dump.  Was nice to have it hauled away and not have to worry about it.  He and another helper worked on the project for 2 days.  We are pleased with the final project, fence looks nice and seems to be solid.  Terry was pleasant and easy to work with. 

Where to start? Terry was here so much he was like part of the family! Our adventure started in July of 2014, with the dining room remodel. Terry put in a hardwood floor that carefully matched up to the existing hardwood floor in the living room, and ran seamlessly into the kitchen. In the kitchen, in addition to replacing the existing old floor with a new hardwood floor, Terry took out all the old cabinets and countertop and sink and lights and installed our new cabinets (including a modification near the window to give us more cabinet space), ceiling lights, and a vent hood above the stove, which he also vented out of the rooftop. (The quartz countertop was installed by the countertop company and the plumber worked with Terry to install the sink, garbage disposal, and dishwasher). Terry modified the electric wiring, bringing it up to code, and giving us more outlet and switch options (including a motion sensor light switch) He also did the tile backsplash. One really neat feature of having Terry re-do a kitchen is the temporary sink set up he brings in, so you don't have to be without a sink the entire time.
Terry has connections with a veritable army of artisans and if there was something he needed one of them to do, he brought them in, such as the company who sanded and poly-ed the floors, and the drywaller and painters, in addition to the aforementioned countertop company and plumber.
When it was time for the master bathroom remodel, we were delighted to see Terry again! He gutted the entire bathroom, removing old cabinet work and the tub (as well as the sink, vanity, and toilet). Again, we had him put in ceiling lights, including above the shower. One awesome feature of our new bathroom is the heated floor! Terry worked with an electrician to ensure all the circuitry was up to code and the heating elements were properly installed underneath the tile. He tiled the floor and the shower, putting in custom cubbies, and installed the shower base and shower doors. He made modifications to the wall so that our custom recessed cabinet would fit. He vented the exhaust fan out of the rooftop, and, as above, he made sure all the electrical wiring was up to code while giving us more options for outlets and switches. He moved the floor register over, too. The finishing touch on the bathroom was the sliding barn-style door between the master bedroom and the bathroom. Terry figured out a way to hang the sliding door track securely yet discreetly.
There are many great aspects to working with Terry, but one of them is that he believes the client should be the one with the final say. The client designs and Terry implements. If the client wants something that isn't possible Terry gives alternatives, but it's still up to the client to decide. He genuinely, truly wants his clients to be happy.
When the work was done we were sad that we wouldn't be seeing Terry regularly, because we enjoyed working with him so much. He's conscientious, hard-working, inventive, polite, and communicates well. I can't think of a better professional to do a remodel.

After leaving a message he returned my call promptly and came by to look at the fans we needed installed as well as the doors we needed to be hung. He worked with us on both even when we had to return the fans twice due to incorrect down rod size. He finished all the fans and doors within 3 days of the initial call and was extremely personable as well. I will hire him again and soon!

It went well. Terry responded quickly to an 'emergency' repair since we were leaving town. He did a great job.

Terry was prompt and worked with us to secure our home after a burglary.

He appreciated the urgency of our situation and was very responsive; being available whenever we contacted him, to communicating recommendations to us, to freeing up time to secure our home as soon as possible, after the front door of our home had been been kicked in.

Terry was also flexible to meeting us at a different building material supplier, when the first materials we had purchased turned out to be defective. Not only did he identify the defective door, but, he was generous with his time in assisting us at another building material supplier.

Terry also, fixed a few closet doors which did not open and close smoothly,glued loose rails on a banister and reattached a ceiling attic door at no charge.

I can sincerely recommend his services to anyone needing misc home improvement. He is quite knowledgeable concerning fixing items throughout the house and will readily work with his client to provide various costs options for whatever issue needs correcting.

He did a great job! He was quick and punctual. He came out the day I called to give an estimate and came the next day to do the job and finished it that day. He was polite and listened well and it cost less than what we were expecting.

I contacted Terry after another contractor failed to follow
through on a providing a quote for the bathroom remodel, having delayed the
work for over a month.  Terry came out
the next day and looked at the job.  When
I was ready to transfer funds for project payment, I received a quote within 30
minutes of the call stating that I was ready to move forward.  He indicated the project might still be able
to be completed within my time frame, depending on arrival of materials
needed.  I suggested that we not rush and
backed off of my original timeline for the bathroom remodel.
Each time a new sub appeared, Terry immediately
introduced us.  All were courteous and
friendly, and while I was present when they were working, I never heard any
offensive language.  Terry is
knowledgeable about a wide range of home improvement/maintenance areas.  If he doesn?t know how to do a job, he will
recommend someone who can help.
Terry is attentive to the bottom line for the
homeowner.  He makes suggestions for ways
to save on costs without compromising the desired outcome for the
customer.  I felt I received great value
for the charges for the services Terry provided.  It might be helpful if he provided itemized
invoices, but for the most part, the final costs mirrored or closely paralleled
the job as quoted.
Terry?s attention to detail is amazing!  Each time new materials arrived, he confirmed
with me if that was what I had ordered.   I felt that, throughout the bathroom remodel
and the installation of the hardwood floor, he was advocating in my best
interests with both suppliers and craftsmen to make sure the quality of the
completed work was the highest possible.
Terry was flexible in arranging work to fit my
schedule.  He always communicated to me
when he and/or subcontractors would be coming to my home and what jobs they
would complete within the scheduled time.  When it was necessary, the crew even worked on
Saturday.   The two jobs, bathroom updates and
installation of hardwood floors, were completed within eight weeks.  My friends and family were impressed by the
speed in which this work was done, commenting that I must have a really good
contractor!  I agree.

Terry did a great job. He took the airconditioner to his workplace in order to cut the board perfectly to provide a very tight fit. He installed and sealed it well.

Terry came into my project about 60% finished.  He put me in contact with an affordable electrician who buttoned up our electrical work that was previously started by an incompetent 'electrician' whom I chose to let go.  This was painfully slow but that wasn't Terry's fault.  It just so happened the gentleman he obtained was retiring from the business and I think he was helping out while working another full time job.  Again, not Terry's fault at all. It took a good solid month for that process to finish and it was only about an 800 sq. ft. room.  Nevertheless, Terry was responsive to us and answered our calls and gave us timely feedback.  Terry was never hard to reach. 
Pricing appeared to be fair.  Bidding was not really offered.   Terry just took off with the project and assigned subcontractors to finish the work.  I was never very certain what the labor charges were going to be and it was my practice to buy the materials myself. I used clearance items, sales, and rebates to do this as I was on a very tight budget.  Not knowing about potential costs came back to bite me in the end.  I was 300 short on my budget and had to scramble to get the remaining monies available for payment.  The additional costs were attributable to products Terry had to buy to finish the job.  These costs were not something I had planned but were necessary to complete the work.  Terry was fair and he was responsive and accessible to both my wife and I.  I would recommend Terry for future projects that which he is qualified and / or  credentialed to perform. 

We found Terry through Angie's List. Left a message and he called back promptly. Walked through project with us in advance, answered questions thoroughly. Found good, reliable and reasonable subs for plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Helped us time purchases of materials to save on materials costs. Helped us with details for permits. Stayed in communication, adapted to changes in our schedule, always let us know if he would arrive later than expected. The fit and finish are very good.
Because there isn't much he can't do, we had him do additional jobs outside of the basement finish--helped finish attic area for storage, cut and installed hardwood floor trim and did other handyman work.
Terry was flexible with us in working until we used the budget we had set aside (we knew it wouldn't finish the entire basement). We will call him when we've set aside enough to continue.
We found him trustworthy, friendly, very competent and reasonable. His work was very well done, and finished when he said it would be. He seems to know scores of building trades people. If we asked him a question and he couldn't answer it, he immediately phoned somebody who could. We will definitely use Terry again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Had finished wood wheelchair ramp installed. Called Friday, received estimate Sunday, work started Monday, was complete on Thursday. Was very responsive to my desire to have work completed before Christmas. Let me know what days they would/would not be available to work.

It went well.  Terry fit me into his schedule at a time that was convenient for me.  He also fixed a cabinet door and installed drapery rods.
Also ... he noticed the tire on my SUV was going flat.  He put air in it so I could make it to the shop to get it repaired!

He came on time and completed the job within the specified time. I was happy with the overall performance of the service provider.

We are so thankful to have found Terry through Angie's List.  It is so hard to find good and honest people who you can trust.  We live out of state and own and manage an apartment building in Lincoln.   (This is not an easy thing to do living far away we have learned..)  Terry has been our go-to guy for maintenance and repairs since we have found him.  I can rely on him to get the job done right.  
He demolished a bathroom in an apt. and worked with a plumber and flooring company to get the bathroom remodeled.  He put up drywall, laid a new tile surround for the bath, installed a new vanity, light fixture, faucet, and set the toilet.  He was able to get the job done quickly so we had little time between the old tenants moving out and the new tenants moving in.  He picked up materials at Home Depot and Menards and has been wonderful to work with.  
He is trustworthy and I value his opinion when making remodeling decisions as an absentee landlord.  I highly recommend his work to any that are looking for a good carpenter.  

He made arrangements to come out the next business day and fixed a couple items that day and then assessed the bigger projects and started on them the next day. The replacement fence boards had to be primed, he set up a work site in the gargae and came out daily to prime, etc.. once the boards were ready he fixed the fence and did a real nice job. Shared his contact info with others as he is a great handyman. .

Terry did a great job at the price that we agreed to ! Cleaned up after! He took care of everything ! Start to finish was a good experence!

I had a vinyl fence installed last year and there was a gap between our fence and our neighbors. Terry came up with a solution to install a piece of similar looking vinyl and attach it with hinges so my dog wouldn't be able to escape. It turned out great and as always Terry was quick, on time and able to come up with solutions based on his experience and creativity. Will use again and continue to recommend.

This is the second time I have used Terry to install a door where one did not exist previously. He came out and gave me a quote on Thursday and was able to come out and complete the work on a Sunday. He took extra care to keep things clean and installed a nice functional door in a short amount of time. He even went to the hardware store and picked up the door and hardware- will use again!

He is great. He is reasonably priced and very thorough. He works for everything and he didn’t give me a number. It was thorough and he did it right. I think everybody should be like him. His prices came right in the middle, its good price.
