The Carlson Projects Inc was recommended to me by a friend who referenced how they take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. My introduction to the Carlson family went well and the journey began in creating a beautiful bathroom. I was especially grateful to Cody Allen and Shawn Carlson who provided recommendations with color, design and quality products. This 100 year old house had so many secrets and surprises and Cody and Shawn were able to problem solve and work through every obstacle. Shortly after signing the contract for this project the co-vid pandemic hit the community. I was impressed how the Carlson family and crew was able to respect social distancing and still assist me with product selection and ordering the needed materials to keep the project moving. Most important for me is to recognize Cody Allen for over-seeing this project. He was informative, organized, hard working and has great interpersonal communication skills. He kept me updated to the challenges of an old house and sought advise from his peers. I feel he has a great career ahead of him. Thanks to all the Carlson family and crew!!!!! Alan Fulton

We had some major hail damage to our roof and skylight.  It hailed and rained all the day before, allowing water to seep into ceilings and shattering a skylight. This resulted in major damage. Once insurance comes through, we will have them completely redo the roof. However, it rained again the next night and the patches (and there were many) they did did not leak. There was NO secondary leaking into the house. They put plywood over broken windows and the broken skylight. And, they did all this early the morning following the hail storm. Their professionalism is apparent and since this will probably roll into the total project we don't know the price. However, they are responsible for stopping further damage and doing it quickly. Thanks Carlson Projects!

This was our second project with Carlsons, we had them put on a new roof a year or so ago, and didn't hesitate to get a bid for a complete kitchen remodel and new floors in the kitchen and dining room. They are great to work with, they listen to your concerns and address them completely. Very pleased with the entire project including the cabinet maker, I wold recommend them for any remodeling project.

I can't say enough about how helpful Doug Wiebe is. He was very thorough and responsive and devoted a lot of time to our questions, bringing us samples, making adjustments, and more.
Carlson's does use subcontractors, which some people don't like. I was fine with it since Doug remained engaged and checked in on their work more than once. He also followed through on a couple of minor issues that came up after the project was finished. He was very responsive and addressed all of our questions.
I was also impressed that Doug and the subcontractor that did the work on the gutters/downspouts quickly rearranged their timeline because of a forecast storm that was supposed to dump a significant amount of rain when we had no gutters on the house. Due to the design of our roof, this could have been catastrophic in terms of water in the basement. They made sure to get gutters up in time for that storm and we were very grateful.
We would use Carlson again in a heartbeat and likely will within the next year or two as our roof is due for replacement soon. They are busy during the summer months as are all contractors/builders in Lincoln, so make contact early! It's not their fault; it's just a reality of living in a growing city like Lincoln.

I was impressed with the professionalism of their salesman but not with the finished work. While this new roof may serve it's intended purpose it does not look like a professional job in many details and my concerns were not addressed at all.

Several of the metal valleys which formerly extended all the way to the bottom edge now stop short of the edge. Some still go all the way to the edge and some stop anywhere from 1 to 3 feet short and overlap onto the shingles. It just looks odd and unprofessional that they are so random.

I expressed during the bid process that I was concerned that my roof didn't have enough venting. Their finished product has slightly less venting than the old roof.

The ridge vents which formerly had finished edges which blended in with the surface now stop abruptly with an unfinished edge.

The covers they installed on the plumbing vents are dented and one is slightly crooked.

After the first rain on this new roof I found piles of roofing nails in the grass that had washed down the gutter downspouts.

While these things may not effect the performance of the roof it doesn't look like a job that was done professionally or with any attention to detail. When I asked about these things I was informed that "the roof was installed properly". If I had known how it would turn out I would have gone with another company.

"[member name removed], I appreciate your feedback. Doug is a new salesman with us and he is professional and I appreciate your noting that. We try our best to give you the best product we can as we upgraded the shingle you got to a class 4 Impact shingle with a 50 yr. warranty at no extra cost to you. There are two areas where the valleys come together and form a V, I don't like to run a valley into another valley, Ive seen to many of these leak during severe icing in winter, we prefer to lace the valley with Ice and water shield under the shingles to avoid a dam at the bottom of two intersecting valleys. The water then has a better chance to escape. The ridge vents were shingled differently with a blended slope into the ridge shingles, this is a preference not a performance issue. If you look at any instructions for ridge vent that method is not there. Again we can do it, and we failed to see that was important to you. [member name removed] we value you as a customer and will do anything we can to leave you happy with the final product, Doug will be calling to make arrangements with you address any concerns. Thanks Again, Greg Carlson, Owner of Carlson Projects."

Crew came on date arranged and quickly and efficiently completed the project. Clean-up was great; my patio looked cleaner than when they started. I also appreciate that my emails were answered promptly, and when the estimate was given, Greg was personable and happy to discuss different options available.

Went very well, I like this company and the owner, he gave a professional estimate, was the only contractor of six who told us we had hail damage, so we did get some insurance money to help with the cost. All the other contractors wanted to do a ridge vent and he explained the type of roof we have didn't allow for enough ventilation with a ridge vent. We did have some delays, but they were becasue of the insurance and weather, not because of the company. Great clean up, one day install.

Considering my problems, Greg and his crew worked around them as best they could.  Everyone was very thoughtful of my recovery situation.  The recovery from my second operation was made much easier because of the new improvements to the house.  Greg and his wife were easy to contact and are very responsive to needs and requests.  With an older house, we had to make changes during the work in process, but the Carlson's handled them very nicely.  I am sure that it would be very hard to find more cooperative and friendly people to deal with.

From what you were putting up with to the beauty and functionality of what you have now I am proud to have been a part. On a scale of 1 to 5, Carlson Projects is a 6.  We intended to remodel the first floor of our two-story home and got a recommendation from friends for Carlson Projects.  Before starting, we met with Greg Carlson and Dave Van Horn and discussed scheduling, planning, purchasing of needed materials and special requests and costs.  Our original costs increased affordably as we decided to include more special requests, e.g., plumbing, painting, electrical work.  We could not be more pleased with the quality of materials, excellence of work and ease of communicating and flexibility of Carlson Projects.
Each and every one of Greg's workers (Greg, son Stephan, Dave Van Horn and his crew) and all sub-contractors excelled at their skills and were so helpful and a pleasure to work with. They made suggestions which helped us to make good decisions.   Greg kept constantly in touch with us via e-mail and cell phone, and we could always reach him.  In addition, Shawn Carlson, co-owner of Carlson Projects, was unbelievably helpful.  She showed us what was current on the market and what would work for us.  It is hard to get started when you need to re-do a whole floor.  Shawn started us with the choice of granite and helped us with most decisions from there, e.g., lighting, paint colors, etc.  We could not have selected or been as satisfied with what we now have without her help.  Greg and Shawn are quite a team!
Dollar for dollar, worker for worker, contractor for contractor, we can only give the highest recommendation to Carlson Projects for outstanding knowledge of remodeling, professionalism and a person to person interaction that makes you feel as if you have new friends, not just good business dealings.

"Shawn and I were so touched by your report, it was certainly our joy to work with you on re-inventing your space. You are both so gracious and we feel we've known you for years. The whole crew enjoyed working on the project and want to send their thanks for treating us like family. Greg, for all of us at Carlson Projects."

We thought they were doing everything right, until we realized that they had not put the gutters on our home.  It started to rain, and continued on and off for the next two weeks.   The rain came into our home and down the walls.  We complained, and they came back to make the repairs, but the problem persists to this day.
Response from Carlson Projects Inc
"I'm sorry you had an issue with us, I am having trouble remembering the scope of work we did. As I recall we re-roofed the home, are you having a roof leak? My gutters at that time were subbed to another company which I will give you their number and I will call them myself. The owner is deceased and I am using a different company now. I want to make sure your roof is not leaking since that is our part and if it is a gutter issue I will have my new gutter man resolve the issue. Greg"

Greg is a nice guy and does good work. The one thing that he said that made me want to go with him was, "you can train an individual to do the job, but you can't teach pride in workmanship".  After I accepted the bid it took him a couple months to come out and do the job. He is very busy and wasn't the best with communication, but he also had a lot on his plate and was very upfront and honest. When he did come out to do the job he got it done quick and did good quality work.

The work went very well and was done very quickly once they started.  The crew cleaned up well.  I am pleased with the results and hope to have Greg back to do some interior work for me in the spring.  He is friendly and patiently answers all of your questions.  I can recommend him without hesitation based on the work he did for me.  The work on the eaves was not easy since this is an older house, and Greg made sure that it was done the best that he could do with what was here.  In fact, he did the hardest part himself.

They were quick.  They got here and got it done in three days and got out.  They showed up on time.  They charged less than the other two people who came and gave us an estimate.  Price wise they were excellent.  Quality wise they did a beautiful job.   They cleaned real good.  I will use them in the future.

"Thank you for the great report. Low sloped roofs like yours seem easy but present winter challenges of Ice dams. We installed Ice and Water shield 9' from gutter up and through all the valleys."THE BELT AND SUSPENDERS APPROACH" Ice shield is a great unseen friend to low slope roof owners. ( Ice shield is a vinyl 3' wide sheet with a mastic adhesive, waterproof underlayment.)"

Their crew arrived at 7:00 AM and only stopped long enough to sit on the ground under a tree to grab a quick sandwich and were back at work. They continued to work unjtil 9:00 that evening and completed the job in one day  The workers were very polite and willing to please.  When they finished the job they went all around the house cleaning up any fallen debris that was lying in the grass.

On a Sunday afternoon (with Monday as a Holiday), when high winds damaged our roof, Mr Carlson came out immediately and put an emergency roof patch on, then after the Holiday, when the insurance adjuster (Allied Ins) came out and looked, they told me that Carlson Projects Inc was one of their best contractors and they gave me a check to pay for a new roof. 2 days later they started the job and finished in 2 days.
