Wedding Planning
Sara is one of the few wedding planners in Lincoln. She was a great help to my husband and I throughout the wedding planning process, although there were times I felt: pressured, let down, stressed and aggrivated with her services. Sara was excellent at finding providers, althought she has a set group of providors she really seems to want to work with, which is natural in that sort of buisness. However, I had my own photographer, DJ etc. Overall in regards to meetings with people, I think we had too many for what was necessary. Especially with my photographer, and at the Lincoln Country club. At times I felt I was present at a meeting where the whole purpose was for Sara to ease her mind, not anything to do with me. I wish she had more ideas for me, sometimes I felt ill prepared to make decisions, ultimately though things turned out beautifully, and I would have had a miserable time doing it myself. My biggest issues w/Sara were: 1) The quality of her handwriting: I paid her to hand write the addresses on my handmade paper invitations. Many of my guests commented to me that it was so sweet of my husband to help me address them. 2) Hounding me with Emails. As the wedding drew nearer and nearer, Sara innudated me with scores of 1 line emails per day. I would have preferred a phone call or god forbid, a meeting instead of the daily bombardment of useless emails regarding things we had already discussed. She also aggrivated some of my wedding providers with emails also, to the point that they mentioned it to me as a problem. 3) Confusion: At times she amplified the confusion in our families, instead of making things easier. There were several times where she could have made my life simpler by staying out of something, when instead she butted in and conflicts arose. 4) She did not help my husband find his kilt. My poor husband really could have used assistance in finding and ordering his kilt on time. As it was, because she wasn't checking on this, we got down to the wire, with his kilt arriving 1 week before we got married. While she did not help him find his kilt, she was really on top of asking me if it had arrived once it had been ordered. All that being said, my friends who are wedding DJ's said they really loved Sara and that they think of all the wedding planners in Lincoln, she is by far the best. Though she is new to the game, I think she will learn to work with all kinds of providers, and with brides. Sara is a kind person, very excited about new ideas, she will work on any theme you have. I would recommend her to other people based off of those notions but I would give the recommendation with a grain of salt. Again, I think her lack of professionalism is a lack of experience in the feild. Our wedding was perfect, and everything we dreamed of. Sara helped us get there, in spite of complaints she deserves a lot of credit for keeping up with everything, and everyone involved.
Response from Bella Signature Events
"Thank you for the feedback. I always encourage and welcome client feedback. There are a few comments/clarifications I would like to make. I make vendor recommendations based upon each client's unique needs/wants (style, budget, etc.). In most circumstances, a bride should be prepared to meet with a photographer once to go over what shots she would like to be taken and the timeline of the day. If the photographer would like to meet at the venue with the bride to discuss and look for outside and unique shots, it is the bride's discretion whether she wants to attend or not. I always encourage the bride and groom to have open communication with family members when discussing potential misunderstandings/dilemmas with each other and never assume anything, especially when it involves money. I have other things that require my full attention, and getting in the middle of family drama is an incredible waste of my resources. If a bride or groom finds their bridal attire on-line and communicates that with me, I would encourage them to purchase said bridal attire as soon as you can, given that shipping can take awhile, especially when overseas. Waiting until two weeks before the wedding is risky, given items can become out of stock fairly quickly. There are many local resources I would be happy to refer my clients to find their bridal attire locally, or have it created/altered to fit their needs. After booking wedding planning services, my clients note whether they would prefer email or phone correspondence. Given that most of my clients have a full time job and/or go to school and live out of state, email is the best option for most. If at any time my client would prefer to be contacted in another way, I would encourage my client to communicate that with me. There are lots of details and decisions that require the planner's attention as well as the bride and groom's. As the wedding date draws near, those details/decisions may be revisited again to ensure that the wedding reflects everything the bride and groom wanted it to reflect. Wedding planning usually takes course over the span of a year, and within that time clients often change their mind or become uncertain of past decisions. I have found it's always a good idea to go over things, one last time. I am always happy to meet with my clients in person over coffee, lunch or dinner. I would encourage any client that would prefer to meet in person, let me know. My favorite part of my job is interacting with my clients in person and really getting to know them."
