Rick Novotny was recommended by a neighbor. Our insurance company initially was not approving a new roof and other repairs to the exterior after a severe hailstorm. The neighbors around us were getting new roofs. After three inspections by the insurance company, where Rick was under contract the last time, he was able to get all of the damaged areas covered. This included roof, copper trim, damage to siding, full deck replacement, Pella window trim replacements. Our perseverance, the help of our local insurance agent and Rick Novotny helped make this a reality.
Rick contracted all of the people to repair every detail. We did not have to hunt for providers. This was a tremendous convenience, as this process was overwhelming at times. Rick took care of everything. Swanson Metal did the copper trim and were meticulous in their job..Thanks, Roger and Javier. Rick made sure that 5-8 roofers did the work, and the roof was done in 3 days with a thorough clean up of our property every night after they left. Rick stopped by every evening to inspect and keep track of progress. The day after the roof was replaced, the contractors touching up the siding and painting nicks and scrapes were here and finished that in a day. They will return later to fix inside damage from leaks after the storm. Rick wanted everything made better than before.

The estimator, Jason, was very pleasant and thorough; he provided a lot of details and information and gave me an estimate right away.

The estimate had a breakdown of various possiblities that might come up as the old roof came off; he didn't just assume that we would need a complete replacement -- although, since our house is over 70 years old, I wasn't surprised to see it needed new decking and chimney flashings. As the work was being done, we could see everything being done was necessary.
The crew was extremely hard-working, pleasant, professional, and amazingly neat. We were dreading the mess since they had to remove 3 layers of singles, but they cleaned up so well (including over night and at the end) that our yard, porch, and patio were cleaner and neater than when they started ! Even our extremely picky neighbor was impressed, especially when they went over our yards with, I think ? a magnet to check for stray nails (including under all the bushes!).
Overall, we were amazed how fast, neat, and easy the whole experience was.
We recommended Jason to a neighbor who thought she needed a new roof, but he said she could probably wait for a few more years.. Also a friend called for an estimate for a roof replacement. Jason found a hole near a gutter and repaired it instead of selling him a whole new roof. I feel this company is honest and trustworthy.

The service was good. I would absolutely use them again.

At first it was great as they recommended a better roof for the same cost. The installation left some damage and cleanup was not complete. The cover of the air conditioner had to be replaced because they never covered it so to protect it from falling shingles etc. A short gutter was installed incorrectly resulting in water freezing in it vs. draining. The air conditioner cover was replaced in a reasonable time. It took about a year for the short gutter.

Great company and experience when they did our roof in 2008.

When I called back in 2013 for another new roof due to the a storm, it was a completely different experience. I called over, and over, and over again trying to get a response. I was told that Brad was looking over my file and would call me back to follow up on arranging the job.

I never received a call back. I gave it over a month. I finally left a message that I would be changing this review on AL from positive to negative. I quickly received a call back. In that call, the blame was placed on me for the reasons my calls were not returned. There was zero justification for turning the responsibility for call back onto the customer, even though I did call to follow up numerous times.

I am very disappointed since I did want Total Roofing to do the job. I will be giving the money to a different company though.

The gutter system on my house has a number of tricky twists and turns, not to mention the height of the house. In addition to just getting better gutters, I wanted to do it in such a way that the character of my house was maintained as a 100-year old house. The crew, with their terrific leader (Sean--a master craftsman) went out of their way to do everything possible to meet that requirement, even having one particularly tricky section of gutter crafted by a specialist. Sean was especially innovative and came up with several small improvements in problem areas. Jason, my estimator, stuck with me through the entire job, even driving 2+ hours each back and forth to another city to pick up gutter the night before my job when the local supplier didn't come through. Jason also helped with the actual job to get it done on time. (I suggest you ask for Jason for the estimate!) The only area where this company didn't quite have its act together was on communicating with me on when it was coming, time, date, etc. I would suggest that you call several days ahead of your expected date to be sure they're coming, that nothing has changed. And then follow up the day before, too! It's very much worth it for the expertise of Jason and Sean.

A very top job! Jason, the estimator, was professional, knew what he was doing and gave me the estimate in less than 2 days. He answered every question and educated me in roof installation. He gave me his personal cell phone and told me that I could call him at any time during the job if I wasn't satisfied with what was going on. The crew was extremely skilled, arrived punctually and did a terrific job on a difficult roof. Clean up was good and every effort was taken by all concerned to be sure I was satisfied and knew what was going on at every step. GAF products were used which, in addition to the 30-year guarantee on the shingles, also provided for a 20-year guarantee on craftsmanship. Give them a chance to bid on your roof. You won't be sorry. And ask for Jason!

Crew was efficient. Some problems with clean-up at the end of work days. Clean-up good at end of job.

Total Roofing was careful with my yard and landscaping plants while they worked. They cleaned up very well when they were finished. The finished job looked nice and we haven't had a single leak. They used good materials, so the new roof will last for a long time.
