The sales man was nice but that's about it. Eight months after the purchase and install, the carpet started bunching up. When we called them to come and fix it they told us "sure we can come fix it but it will cost ya". We didn't have a good experience with these guys at all. We've had many friends build since us and I made sure to tell each and everyone of them to stay away from McKean's.
"We warranty our craftsmanship for one year. This request was made after the year had past. I offered to look at the house and prepare a bid for the repair. This is our standard estimating practice. McKean’s does not quote any pricing without seeing the job; this includes possible warranty issues outside the 12 month time period. Rob Manderfeld"
We are happy with the Alterna Luxury Vinyl flooring.
We had them grout the tile. The grout lines are not as even as we would have liked but they are acceptable. There were some voids - air pockets- in some of the grout lines - not large but visible.
The first time we used our cleaning cycle on the oven - it is a wall mount, mounted under a 36 inch cooktop - the heat from the cleaning cycle shrunk the grout directly in front of the oven and the tile lifted slightly.
When I stopped in to ask about the issue, our salesman was not in. The other salesman said our salesman would call. After 3-4 weeks and no call, I called our salesman who said he had forgotten to call us.
I explained the problem and ask if they could send someone out to repair the grout lines. He said they would not cover the problem.
He said to see if we had some of the grout left and repair it ourselves.
He did offer to order us some grout at a reduced price if we did not have enough to fix the problem.
I am extremely disappointed in the customer service offered and the less than expected quality of the installation of the flooring.
The back splash installation has some tiles cut to just 1/2 to 3/4" wide. Spacing the tile more appropriately to begin with would have not required such narrow tiles - especially right by the sink.
I will not use this business in the future.
"As a company that has been around for 50 years, we do not take complaints lightly. Therefore, when the client filed the complaint with the Better Business Bureau, we explored all avenues and all sides. We were not found at fault by the BBB."
