AL'S EXTERIORS

Al didn't want to get a permit, but I insisted. At times he didn't show up when supposed to, & didn't call to say he wasn't coming. Though the work was done in a reasonable amount of time, the quality of work is not satisfactory. Al had to be called back immediately to replace some boards of poor quality & to remove many small nails left with the sharp end out - at a child s reach. Six months, many promises & several calls later, I can't get him back to fix 20 vertical spindles which are at an obvious slant. They're so noticeable that guests comment on my "crooked deck". Indeed, the entire deck is at a slant. Poor workmanship issues include boards with the label side up; non-galvanized nails which are rusting; boards which don't line up evenly; uneven & wobbly steps that need a center stringer; poorly-mitred corner boards; & a large concrete chunk (which he hid under dirt) attached to the slab he poured. I'm now having to hire a contractor to repair his shoddy workmanship.
