We moved from out of state to Nebraska. While we waited for our house to sell we took a 6 month lease with Borisow Homes. Due to the time constraints in moving and starting a job,we agreed to take the townhouse "as is". It did need extensive cleaning and we used a home Bissell carpet cleaning system to do the carpeted floors. In addition, and at our own expense, we replaced 2 sets of blinds in the bedroom and 1 toilet seat. At the time of renting, the owner acknowledged that the property needed new carpet, but would do so after we moved out,due to the short lease Our house sold and closed in June, and we gave our 30 day notice. We were told that if they could find a renter, then we would not have to pay the remainder of our lease. At this time, we were asked if anything needed to be done which we stated the carpet needed to be replaced. She acknowledged that the owner was aware of the of this and planned doing it. An assistant showed the townhouse and commented on how clean it was, and the property had an agreement with a new renter moving in 1 week after we left in June. When we moved out and turned over the keys the assistant said no when asked if she wanted to do a walk through. In hindsight, we should have demanded a walk through because the owner did not replace the carpet and charged us a carpet cleaning fee, plus a cleaning fee, which was very wrong given we left the townhouse in excellent condition. We are not a young, naive couple who never rented an apartment. We know the rules of apartment dwelling, but we want others to beware and warned that the word and actions of this company cannot be taken lightly. If you choose to rent from this company get EVERYTHING in writing, and insist on a walk through with signed documentation.
