Peregoy Custom Cabinets

We liked the frameless cabinets which is why we chose Peregoy but the multiple problems, questionable contract issues, poor service along with the temper of the owner made us regretful of our choice. TIMELINE: It took from July to November for Peregoy to complete cabinet plans. The first set of drawings were very basic with much missing. We made corrections but when we received them back, little changed. Each time we submitted corrections, we had to wait another 3-4 weeks to receive new ones. When we thought we finished the final set, Peregoy presented us with the estimate and since he gave us no idea of the cost for features we were selecting, we had to revise the plans once again to bring it in line with our budget. In the end, we had 6 revisions which I was told at the onset we would have, but took over 4 months. When we signed off on the last set, we were told they were 6 weeks out before they could begin building them let alone install them. We were never told that we wouldn?t be scheduled until all plans were finalized. This delayed the completion of our house. COSTS: We incurred additional costs that should be part of the bid. We were never told we would be charged extra for drilling hardware holes even though he asked us in advance for the size of the handles. The counter in the laundry room extended too far beyond the cabinet door which is not typical and we were charged to make this standard. WARRANTY MAINTENANCE: After installation, we had a long list of fixes including things such as missing screws, rollers not working, hinges not screwed in, doors not flush, drawers not closing, drawers too short. I called about a bedroom drawer that would slide open a few inches after it was closed. It was a year before they came out. The serviceman told me to put something heavy in the bedroom drawer to keep it from rolling out?it was a shallow lingerie drawer! The kitchen flip out drawer fell off and the fix was to flip it and reinstall. Now when we open the drawer, we see damage to the wood and the screw holes. QUALITY: When the cabinets were being installed, someone questioned whether the cabinet doors in our kitchen were cherry wood. Without defending this, Peregoy quickly remade the doors in question. It did not take long for the cabinet door hinges to loosen causing the doors to rub as they close. Tightening the screws do not hold. One large door eventually fell off and split. Having to continually tighten the screws has stripped the wood and we worry that these too may fall off. Some of the screws in the hinge plates were installed are so close to the edge of the door molding, that the wood split during installation and thus cannot hold the hinge. He provided sound buffering bumpers to stick on the inside of the cabinet doors but after several years most became sticky and pulled the paint off the cabinet frame. The rails on the pull out shelves in the lower kitchen cabinets are so bulky that 15% of cabinet space is lost. Each side rail and hardware measures 1 3/16 ?. That?s a total of 2 3/8? storage lost in the 15 5/8? open space. PROFESSIONALISM: Finally, I found it unprofessional when he berated a worker in front of me, talked negatively about a customer after a phone call with her, and exploded with anger in my face.
